roughly 30 miles total.

I was thinking of going to Ortega HWY this week! When do you go on your drives?

is that the only road in the vicinity?

what makes the malibu roads great is that there are various roads with varying difficulty and traffic levels, which makes it exciting and there is a road right for every skill level/car.

i read up a little bit on ortega, but it seems like there is tons of traffic throughout the whole day and the only "right" time to go is late at night, which i am not a fan of...

are there any other roads in the area that are worth driving with much less traffic?

How is Ortega? Where do you rank it among the roads you've driven? I'm spoiled by Mailbu's canyons. lol

ortega is a highway. so it isnt really hard. only the middle section is great. its more of a high speed vs the windy roads of malibu. there is santiago canyon, live oak as well sort of close by.
yeah during the day it is busy with people, so i only go at night for ortega.

It isnt too difficult, it has higher speeds than other windy canyons like ach. yeah malibu canyons are better than ortega. but its still worth to check out

yea, from the looks of it, ortega definitely seems to fall into the same category as ach...

i'm not a fan of going fast on a straight away and the fr-s is not made for that... i wouldn't say it's more dangerous, but there are plenty of other roads to do that.

santiago and live oak doesn't look too technical at all, at least from what i can see on a map... i don't want to drive all the way down there for a few twists and turns, haha

i'm sure it will still be pretty fun if we can get a small group of us to go out there to enjoy the drive and snap a few scenic pix :]

Definitely. One road I really enjoy is Glendora Mountain Road. There are lots of tight corners. I love it haha

yea, i've heard good things about gmr, at least the drive/road itself, but never driven on it since it's decent distance away...

i'd def be interested in checking that out if we go as a group.

Let me know if you guys do go to Gmr. That's one of my favorite roads to cruise on
