It really makes me think how much money they put into these cars for development. Their always the same concept...same idea with some new technology that is included in every new generation.

Honda keeps sticking their head further and further up their butt... absolutely no interest in anything Honda has made since after 2001. What the heck is this supposed to be - an Accord replacement?!?! That's got to be a nice svelte 3,200lb Civic right there....LOL

Honda, go home - your DRUNK!

P.S. My family has owned 3 Integras (all DA), a '91 CRX Si, a '91 Civic DX sedan (2200 lbs!), and a newer civic coupe (2009 PIG)...

You're.

Sorry - couldn't resist.
But point taken - the only Hondas I'm interested in are from 1999-2005

AWD Civic would be interesting.

Then it'd be STI vs Evo vs civic.

Unfortunately this 2016 is just gonna be a 2015 2.0 for the most part. Still heavy and feels sturdy but lacks 'sport' engagement.

Are you guys suprised the civic is meant to be an economical family car? Hasn't that always been the case?

But on a weird note the article starts by saying the civic is a "sports car"...

I love it lol just because people rice it out and or swap various parts from other Hondas onto it doesn't in any shape or form make it a sports car...

I guess it depends on your definition of a family.... The original Civic was very small (although the interior was relatively roomy) with an 86 inch wheelbase and just under 12 feet in overall length and a massive 50HP engine. Not exactly family friendly unless you have small kids.

It has gotten progressively larger in each subsequent generation, but to be fair so have most automobiles.

The Accord was really the first car Honda had I would have considered a family car. Of course, that first Accord was smaller than the current Civics.

Perhaps family car wasn't the best term to use. Regardless it's and ecobox commuter car that wasn't meant to be a sports car.

Yea... big and grocery getter sure isn't the Type R.

It beat the M3 and Audi RS3 in track testing by Steve Suttcliffe and im sure you can attribute a lot of that to weight. The next Type R is supposed to be even lighter.

They lost the right to that claim once they came out with Si and Type R models. If that's the case then at least develop a different chasis with unique aesthetic characteristics to separate it from the base model.
