Review of the rc f by speedhunters. thought id bring this thread alive a little. Another topic: wasnt there a few rumours of a rcf gt with like 600hp? what are the chances of a refresh soon to lighten the car or possibly add more power?

Depends on what you want. I for one do not want a luxurious coupe masquerading as a sports car. Others may disagree.

This car performed exactly as I expected, that is, not well.

On a bit of a tangent, I drive my FR-S to work every day on fair to middlin' roads. When I need to take my wife's C-Max, I swear it feels as if I am driving an older Cadillac. :-)
I spent 15 years behind the wheel of a 1971 240Z with many updates.

I spent one year behind the wheel of a 2014 Monogram Edition FRS 6spd.

I've now been behind the wheel of a Carbon Edition RC F for 3 weeks.

You have no idea what you are talking about, and parroting what some reviewers have to say does nothing.

The RC F over the local scale with a full tank of gas and 200lb driver is right at 4,200lbs, but I can tell you it will run circles around my FRS on the backroad runs that I spend a lot of time driving. I can maintain higher entry speed, higher corner speed, and the exit is not even comparable.

The ride on the RC F is night and day better than the FRS, the amenities are not comparable, and I will never look back.

The RC F is the most fun I have ever had in a daily driver ... Period!

Mine looks just like this:

Then to add more sting when I inquired about getting one none of the dealers order them without $15-$20k in markups. When I asked about ordering one the way I want they were not very receptive. Told me I would be looking at 6+ month wait time.

The RC F hides its weight VERY well!

Most dealers are ordering with less than $10,000.00 is add-on's. The premium, performance, cold weather, Mark Levinson, etc. packages all add up to about $13,000.00.

It took me about 3 months from order to door, and that timeframe is much less now that the carbon edition is released.

So, I happened to see a Lexus RC near my house the other day, and it just got me wondering what these cost here... Imagine my surprise when checking Lexus Japan's website:

http://lexus.jp/models/

The RC-F is priced at ¥9.5-10.3M!!!!!! At current exchange rates that's starting at $77k, but for Japanese salaries (which are still largely about equal to $1=¥100) it basically means it's a $100,000 car.

It never ceases to amaze me how Japanese companies utterly rape their own population. Benefits of having a totally captive market, I suppose.

149mph down the front straight at PIR, 138 down the back. Instills complete confidence everywhere on the track, and does nothing weird. 5.2mpg for the day. I was able to put in 25+ laps per 20 minute session for over 100 laps for the day. I had a great time!

The brakes held up great with no fade. I have not pulled the wheels to check the pad life, but the dealer that did my oil change said they looked great. The only real problem was having to wax black tire rubber marks off of the entire car after the day.

I quite like these. However, we are waiting patiently for the next convertible, but Lexus has to bring a 3-row crossover to market before that'll be a possibility.

I was incredibly excited about the RC F until I heard about the weight. I love the styling and the Lexus brand, but there is no excuse for the weight.

I think the RC F's biggest problem is the GT-R. The GT-R weighs less, has superior performance, and is easily picked up with a few thousand miles on it for about the same price as an RC F. Yeah it would be used but you can't really argue with that performance bargain if you must have something Japanese. Considering the cramped rear seats of the RC F, it's hard to argue that it's any more versatile or more luxurious. The only real advantage would be the quality of Lexus's interior design.

In terms of RWD V8 cars, I would certainly go with the GT350. At the price there will be nothing else that compares to it, and the maintenance and parts will be very cheap compared to the M3, C63, RC F, etc. I will probably get one of them next year to replace the 2011 GT I had. The interior is great and I love the styling. And at 47k it makes the powered-up luxury base models on offer from BMW and M-B look like a bad decision.
