Let the car sit for awhile then check again, you want the oil in the pan not the engine when measuring. If it still reads low I would add more oil.

Thanks RL. I let the car sit overnight and the dipstick reads slightly above the bottom hole.

Make sure it's level too. That can make it weird.

Yes, the Mazda 0W-20 GF-5 with moly can be purchased from the dealership for around $7.00 per quart. Adding the M1 0W-40 makes a slightly heavier 0W-20 and increases the HTHS for greater high temperature protection while maintaining a high VI. Search "Caterham blend BITOG" for more information.

Which Amsoil 0W20 is this? Looks like Signature Series. I thought people generally ran more robust oils when boosted (Amsoil Dominator, Red Line, Motul 300V, or a thicker viscosity GF5 oil).

I definitely wouldn't extend the interval, and would possibly cut back on it, until you've absolutely confirmed that the wear metals are still from the break-in process.

Yes TBN is great showing the oil can be run longer, but what good is a high TBN if you have high wear?

Agreed. Amsoil 0w20 Signature synthetic with the green cap. I will do an oil change earlier this time around to see for sure. How would I confirm the wear metals are from the break-in process btw? Change the oil and have another analysis?

Thanks for the insight

Sometimes break-in wear metals linger around for 10-18k miles, depending on driving style and probably other factors (number of oil changes, how long you ran the factory fill, etc.). If everything drops on the next oil change it is likely just break-in metals.

Well, I am one of those FRS owners that decided to wait until the first oil change interval and to take advantage of the dealer Toyota "free maintenance" offer.

Gotta say, the dealer seemed to have done a good, clean job. From the factory, the oil level was a scosh higher than the top mark, it didn't move any lower in 6500 miles, and the refill is exactly at the same level. The old oil still appeared to be very clean prior to refill, and the new oil is almost impossible to read on the stick.

For me, I am happy to stick with TGMO synth. Have to admit, it feels great to have fresh oil in there. 13,000 miles/7.5 months is the next interval.

Has anybody seen Blackstone produced any negative report for BRZ? If I have to use one sentence to summarize the results, my choice would be:

Any 0w20 works just fine!

LOL
