I wanted so badly to like this. Like I wanted so badly to like the new Mustang. The new Mustang looks like a catfish and sits lower in the rear than in the front. The new Camaro's windows are SMALLER when the 5th Gen's were already a dealbreaker. And my Mustang has a solid rear axle. Nobody wins.

Seriously. The window sill starts ABOVE the shoulder.

GM Camaro fail harder, version 2.0... Seriously, I don't count anything past the 4th gen as a Camaro...

That postage stamp view out the rear window must be awesome....you'd think there's a serious glass shortage crisis going on right now based off the pictures of the new camaro....

GM has you covered with rear facing cameras and SONAR instead of 'antiquated' larger window surfaces to physically see out of....LOL

I can just see how the 7th gen will be now..."who needs windows; we have developed an all new solid windowless sheet metal body for the next Camaro with display screens inside to simulate what you would actually be seeing if you had adequate windows. Not only that, we've even made it compatible with Oculus Rift and other 3D headset technologies for a truly immersive driving experience with ZERO 'virtual' blind spots using our 360 degree camera system! First of it's kind - that's GM innovation, YO!"

I have to say in all fairness though, that the following was the rear view out of the Camaro I had (but it was a track car and I had an absolutely PERFECT seating position and good forward 180 degree visibility out of it):

I've had 2 5th gens and never had an issue with visibility myself... But I understand everyone sits and adjusts mirrors differently. It fits me fine. Looking forward to the new one hitting the streets.

I've never seen people freak out so much about the visibility and I have seen the countless threads about it. Do you honestly look out your back window that much? It's not like the FR-S has a giant back window either. The concave mirrors I got on my FR-S eliminated the blind spot. It's just something you live with I guess. I personally haven't driven a 5th gen and I'm 6'6" so I fit differently in it than most. There are a ton of Camaros on the road so it cannot be THAT bad.

The 5th gen ZL1 I did sit in though it was hard to see out the front because of the hood more so than the rear. This hood doesn't look near as vision hindering on the 6th gen which is what I would be more concerned with. There's backup cameras now so there's no need to care what size the back window really is as long as you can see a car in your rear view mirror and the mustangs falling behind.

Beat me to it.

I didn't think the visibility was nearly as bad as most folks seem to think it is. I've definitely driven worse, and I agree its no worse than the FR-S. Makes me wonder if any of these folks have ever driven just about any "supercar" or just about any convertible with the top up. MomHawk's Mustang has huge blind spots.

I agree, that was the biggest issue with the GEN5, over the hood, and dash. The new design does appear to improve that. In the end once they are in showrooms I'll be going to take a look because I don't think you can really judge it fairly until you sit in it.

Yes, this is something that irks me horribly, and you know most of the complaints come from non-owners (who probably have never even sat in the driver's seat).

I'll admit it, it was intimidating that first time sitting in the 5th gen Camaro with none of the mirrors adjusted and the seat not positioned correctly. (This was in a dealer showroom, and the car didn't even have a charged battery, therefore I couldn't adjust anything.)

When I got MY Camaro, it took me roughly 5 minutes to adjust the seat and mirrors to the point of having absolutely NO blind spots. I also quickly learned not to pull-up too far under stop lights.

Within the first week, my Camaro became an extension of me when I'm behind the wheel... that's something all you BRZ/FRS/86 owners should understand quite well.

Edit: And, most people don't set up their mirrors correctly... http://www.linquist.net/motorsports/articles/mirrors

Just read a Gizmag.com article about the 16' Camaro. Apparently GM decided to pipe induction noise into the cabin for the V6/V8 engine options. ???!! Were the twins the first production car to offer this feature ? Maybe the crazy 86' engineers were not so crazy after all !

I actually don't like the new interior, at all.

Plus my buddies 13 2SS interior was pretty darn good, never thought it was sub par at all.

This is a good primer on engine-sound "enhancement."
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...ined-tech-dept

TL;DR version: Started mostly from cars that were so well isolated in terms of road noise, that you couldn't enjoy any engine noise anymore either.

Agreed. And with proper mirror adjustment, the side mirrors can help fix that. And really... once you've owned and STI, you won't complain much about the Camaro's rear visibility.

Now, a bit off the current topic: any word on pricing for the various trim levels?

And I'm disappointed with the power levels in the 2.0L Turbo trim. The least they could do is give it equivalent power to the STI (which has AWD, 4drs, H4 turbo for low $30k's for base model) for similar weight.

Now the 6cyl & 8cyl.... ohhhh baby!
