Duh!

Yeah, I know... I owned an 01 GC8 RS. (the last of the two doors...) But you missed the point.

In 2001, Subaru project management for the WRX came to the US and told us to our faces that the WRX STI would "definitely not" come to the US.

...Stay with me now...

In 2004, the WRX STI was sold in the states...

Point is, they'll say one thing and do another... and they won't say anything until it is official. It is too early to say they will or won't...

And, yes they can move the motor forward for AWD, and yes, the weight distribution will not be as good, but it will be AWD.

Look at it like this:
The Honda Ridgeline is a "truck" (and I use that term loosely) based on the Pilot platform...
The Pilot is based off of the Oddessy platform.
The Oddessy is actually based off of the NA Accord.
If Honda can base so many vehicles off of a common platform, Toyota/
Subaru can change the location of the motor.

wow, this is getting as old as dirt, really fast.

I really wish they'd come out with a statement going one way or the other, just to finally kill this topic.

I owned a last 2wd in the 3 main engine group, it may have been the fastest ever .. (stop the giggles morons)

subaru keeps awd because their afraid of real engines. I am never rescinding this thought, to this day...30 years later..

toyotas rwd is going to sell big. I hope another company dives in to the rwd boxer, it will need competition.
This angers me over subarus. It is a monopoly, they know it like a microsoft programmer..who cares about the majorities quest. they will do it their way all the way to a collapse in the land of billion dollar make believe.

If the toyota RWD weren't so stereotypically riced, I'd go for broke...and it is STILL going to sell sell sell...

unfortunately, this is a car forum about a car that has yet to be released with very few details available. thus, by necessity, most of the topics are gonna be about speculation..

Its not about that at all.

Its the fact that the same thing keeps coming up and the same facts keep getting pointed out, and then the same counter-facts keep getting re-brought up.

I'll state my logic one more time, based on common deduction.

A subaru executive, years before the cars release, has already stated, on an official record, that the subaru version will not come to Australia because it won't be AWD.

years before production
years before production

What this tells me is that theres little/no hope that an AWD variant will be produced, for the premiere model (and possibly a few years after), otherwise the executive wouldn't already be saying such bold statements to the public.

End of story.

Because its on 7tune it doesn't mean its sourced from anything credible (unless they source this information from subaru, etc.), which they didn't. The pictures came from Best Car, who's information I'd call minor at best.

But if there will actually be a AWD version, all the better. I'd be happy for all the scoobie junkies.

i agree with you, but until the car actually comes out there will always be people who keep saying that "anything's possible! anything's possible!" it's the internet, after all.

Ohhhhhh.... I missed that important bit. All this use of the word "confimred" had me buying it as gospel.

Hmm... well, I'll hold off an eating my hat a bit longer then

best car magazine is like 70% wild crazy wishful thinking and 30% true, but the 30% that they get right tends to be spot on, and revealed before any other news source. they had news of the LFA and the toyota subaru joint project before anyone else, and they got the front fascia of the production version LFA right on the money. of course, they also report that there's a 50-60% chance of a new RX-7 concept to be revealed before EVERY SINGLE tokyo motor show. so you have to try to figure out which of their info is BS and which is legit.
