Easy, by dropping the Lexus badge.

It's easy. You take all the money that went in to the development of the GT86, and subtract it from the development costs of the LFA.

FRS: 22mil
LFA: 89mil

Now, you subtract it and you're at 67mil - Now remove the carbon fiber crap from the entire vehicle, and you're left with just the engine building\construction costs. LFA engine is roughly 90k a pop.

So if you've stuck with me here, now we have:

Development costs of the new hybrid-LFA\FRS currently @ 67m

No more development of the carbon fibre monocoque - No more front suspension, steering, or interior costs, and no sheet metal costs. That free's up another 61m. Only thing we're keeping from the LFA is the motor and the neat gauges.

So now we're down to 6m total development cost for this new hybrid. Which is essentially stuffing an LFA motor in the tiny hole where the Boxer motor was before.

Now, for Toyota to turn a profit, they need to build and sell 600,000 LFA-engine'd, GT86's for 10k a pop.

So there you have it. Second gen FR-S getting LFA engine, 10k OTD cost.

I'll take four, please. I'd like one with the Ariel Atom 'Busa V-8 as well.

ETA: Hmm. Wonder if there is an FA20 in a Yamaha R&D shop somewhere.

^ ya, well not anymore anyway.

Drive hard before 10k & wait, or change fluid. This car don't like to be babied.

(1) you're in the wrong forum, as this is for the FRS/86, not the BRZ, but
(2) forget point (1), it actually doesn't matter what version of the car you have; the transmission is the same.

But yes, 2nd can be clunky when cold. Try delaying your 1>2 shift a little when it's cold to let the synchro do its work. I don't mean shift at higher RPM; I mean let the rpms hover for a moment before you shift 1>2.

You could also swap your fluid to something like motul gear 300 75w90; lots of people claim that helps.

Either way, it will improve with time.

Not too mention that the question is buried in a thread that had a totally different title and devolved into a quagmire of debate!

Yes I do! They exist for a reason.
it is hard to understand what is more important or a question when people just type the same all of the time that is why we have different punctuation to be able to provide a clear message.

I feel that half the arguments that happen on here are because people read what is written in the wrong manner (usually "anger" even when not written in that vein). Yes I like brackets and quotation marks as well since they indicate an aside.
