Yeah, keep the car in the RPM window beneath where it was seeing significant boost figures will allow it to drive.

You'll obviously not want to be WOT'ing the car up to that 4K mark either but the car should be safe to drive moderately until the parts arrive, which should be within the next couple days.

I have had twice now where my car would not boost past 4500rpm in cold weather (-10 Celcius and colder). Its like the car just hits a wall. Is it possible the toroids in the blower are not getting warm enough, because both times it was after extended 100+km/h cruising down the highway?

Works fine in warmer weather and also when I let the car idle for about 20 minutes at ice racing on a warm engine.

Airboy. I don't think its a tune problem though, its like the car just hits a wall but the parameters all look good.

Also I don't even have to drive this car in winter and don't really anyway, so it's not a big issue, I am just curious.

I was under the impression that was more of an issue with delicious tunes... Not that his tunes are bad. Just in the way they are tuned. Speed density vs maf... Something like that

There was a physical problem within EcuTek software in which IAT temps had a lower ceiling and could not read below a certain temp, even though in many areas temperatures were getting far colder. This caused startups to be almost impossible. The problem was there all along in the software, it just hadn't presented itself until the right season came along. EcuTek has since solved the issue and all of our tunes have been updated to resolve any cold starting problems.

Sincerely,

Zach

How long ago was that an issue? My car was tuned locally in early December.

Because the rotrex works on a traction drive system, it has a very specific minimum operating temperature. Under that operating temperature, the blower will have a very hard time boosting and will often feel as though it is "hitting a wall". An easy solution is to use something similar to an engine block heater to keep the blower warmed up for when you start up in the mornings so that it is already in operating temperature when you're ready to go.

Sincerely,

Zach

EcuTek recently revised the software within the last month.

It's not a starting issue, its a cruise speed with no boost on the highway problem. The car lives in a heated garage, but the problem has happened when I see intake air temps around -5 Celcius and colder as I cruise down the highway, the car isnt seeing any boost for sometimes as long as 100km or more.

I will be careful not to drive it in colder weather anymore I suppose.

In that case I'd definitely recommend contacting your tuner to get the map updated. You shouldn't have to compromise by not driving it in cold weather, just get the map where it should be.

Zach
