Most people out there don't know about the Twins and that is why there can be so many misconceptions!
Unfortunately, from what we see here even people that should know (sales) fall for the rumors and misinformation.

To quote myself from a previous thread:

Most people don't know it is a $25K car!
Most people don't know it is a "slow" car.
Most people don't know there are two Twins
Most people don't know squat about these cars.
We as "car guys" know these things and seem to assume that everybody else does as well. This is so far from reality it is ridiculous!
There is truth to that. I've had so many people ask me if it's "fast" and I'm like "lol no".. least not stock. My buddy thought I was super rich cause I bought one and I was like it's cheaper than a Mazda 6

Nah not that old!!!!
Close, but not quite. Just joken anyway.
One of my favorite lines on this forum was "some older woman. In her early to mid 30s".
Us "old" guys know way more about cars then some young guys think. We evolved along with the tech and didn't just pop out of caves wide eyed in wonder at all the newfangled strange engines.

Most have no idea there are two versions.
And in the civilized world there are always 4 twins. Not the same in the fjords?

Especially old cars. With carburettors, mechanical distributors, unsynchronized gearboxes, crankshaft starters, unpowered direct steering and brakes, wooden wheels and wax candle headlights.
All still extremely useful and valuable knowledge.

Apparently you actually did just pop out of a cave. I know I kept up with the changes at any rate.
Although you are correct I would still know my way around your list as well (with the exception of the wheels and candles)

Welp, @Ultramaroon ...... and the other "mature" wrenchers ..... I jest don't know ....... I reckon we need to keep em around to work on the ECUs and related computer stuff.

The last engine I "souped up" was a stove bolt 6, back in the 50's.

Yep, bore to 235 cu in; swap the head for a GMC truck head, ported, polished and milled, of course; slip in a high lift cam, add a couple more carburetors and weld up a set of headers.

Now, bring on those flat-head Ford V-8's .......

Now, all I can do is read codes (which tells me stuff I don't understand) then limp into the dealership ......
