Are we talking a room with 3 entrances?

Not gonna watch a 5 hour long youtube video on it lol
Re quoting to answer -

SO FAR AS I CAN TELL (I didn't watch the full video either, and am by no means expert), to enter, we are required to defend 3 open air "rings" for an unknown to me "substance" (amount of points? amount of time? ect..). The main play style then branches off into what I think is a series of mini events that interrupt the boss killing. It seems like you enter somehow, and are confronted - required to attack the boss for a small amount of time, and are then teleported to kill minions, and required to get back to the boss via portal. Kill boss for same small amount of time, get teleported, fight though, and continue until boss is killed. Then move on to the next 8 bosses.

I think.

This is just what I observed while watching parts of the videos - amongst the yelling and cursing, this was the pattern that I saw.

If the mobs remain static, like how aq40 mobs in vanilla WoW, after all the expansions and level increases, I definitely do not see a problem solo'ing that portion of the raid.
But so far as I can tell, you need at least one person in each circle. Its not enough to just kill the mobs, but you need to be able to capture and hold each zone at the same time. Else the "unknown substance" mentioned above will not accumulate.

For the record, never played WoW. To hard/grindy - I like easy games :P

WoW right now is not hard or grindy.
Vanilla WoW was not grindy, but it was hard.

Now if those rings require someone to stand in each of the rings to accumulate something, that is something one man cannot do. :p

Exactlly.

I gave thought to doing WoW but then I was like "I could have my life consumed by chasing amazing armor in what is a beefed up runescape (great game BTW), or I could have my life consumed by chasing various pink, external female organs.

I still think I made the right decision. This darkruned battlegear looks awesome on me

Wow Bungie tweeted some of the stats from the group that finally beat the raid. The one dude they highlighted had 1,111 kills and 281 deaths.

281. Deaths.

WTF that just sounds demoralizing. I get pissed when I die like 2-3 times in a strike.

Okay, I'm going to show my age here. The last time I was in the "gaming world", was back in the early to mid nineties when I was in college playing Sega. Mortal Kombat, Madden Football, etc.

So, my girlfriend's son got an XBox 360 last Christmas. I decided to try my hand at Halo 3 and liked it so I started reading up on the franchise. Long story short, everything I started hearing about Destiny piqued my interest and then there was all the clamor about Titanfall. What happened? A couple of weeks ago I broke down and bought an Xbone and Titanfall. Started there. Liked it so much that I ended up buying Destiny the day it was released. I've become consumed with Destiny but between work schedule and girlfriend I don't get much time on it. I do need to make some friends, I think it will be much easier to beat the different stages? I'm really not sure how it all works yet, need time to do moar reasearch. I'm basically behind the times with the gaming industry.

Yes, I agree. I've only beat two "bosses" so far and the first one got me frustrated. I finally realized I could run around shooting up minions and getting better weapons, armor, gear before taking on the "bosses". So far I'm still loving the game but I've only got past the "warp drive" challenge. I can see where the casual gamer could "hit the wall' so to speak and become furstrated with the game and quit it.

Causual gamers hit a pretty hard wall in Destiny once you hit 20 because you're relying on loot to level you from 20-30.

I'm not casual, been playing this hard since it came out and I cant seem to get past lvl24. Need another legendary armor piece and nothing is dropping for me.

lol no. There are just a lot of people that look at vanilla with rose-colored glasses and don't realize that it wasn't really hard, it was grindy and tedious and doing just about anything took forever. Yes the game is more accessible now, but that doesn't mean it's easier. The only thing that I'd consider harder from back in the day is the original Naxx, but again, that was because tedious grinding, not actual difficulty.

Don't ever play a Trials game.

Yeah, my wife doesn't care either. She's playing WoW while I'm playing Destiny.

I'm trying to convince her to get Alien Isolation when it comes out. I think she'd like it and it's not a "shooter game". Of course, she's never even seen the movie Alien so I have to fix that first.

Fortunately, she's working on her Master's degree right now so when she's studying, it gives me time to get on the Xbone.

Yeah, I'm curious to see how long it holds my interest. So far I'm enjoying it a lot, even playing just solo, but I can see where it could become a) extremely time consuming and b) ridiculously difficult causing c) loss of interest in the game. If I start breaking controllers I'll know it will be time to "retire".
