@SA HotLava Nah, don't wait, come as you are. Join us. My car is semi-dirty and there is no prize for having the cleanest car!

Let's forget the Palladium and just show up and scope out the last two far left rows in front of Lowes. The Subaru gang usually shows up in strong numbers so I'm gonna try to park nearby them if they get there before I do. They typically park towards the far left side. Groups arriving together usually just spot a clear row and go for it so, no telling what it will be like. It has been filling up fast from what I understand.

I'll drop a half dozen orange cones to save us some spots if the parking lot Nazis don't object this time. My ETA will be 7:45. If anyone beats me there...stake out some territory....I will park next to you!

For any "new car" 86 owners out there...don't be shy, come on out!

Hey, San Antonio area 86 owners!!!

On Saturday, August 9th the 2nd Annual Texas FT86 Day Meet/Cruise will take place in our area. We are meeting up in Medina Texas beginning at about 8 AM and will break off into groups to drive the Twisted Sisters in the beautiful Texas Hill Country out near Leakey, TX. Final meetup point is the Bent Rim Grill where we'll have lunch together. There will be a drawing for all kinds of products donated by vendors that support the FR-S / BRZ platform. Pretty good odds you might "win" something!!!

So far, over 60 peeps have signed up to attend and the list is growing. @TEWwild, @Boosted, @AteMyShorts and myself will be "team leaders" heading up the 10-15 member groups. We could use a couple of more "team leaders" for this purpose because 20 cars in a group is a bit much. Also, a group of 60 cars or so would not make for a good run if we were to encounter traffic and that's why we really need to split up in to smaller "waves" so to speak.

If you would be interested in helping us out please send me a PM.

Tim ( @TEWwild ) and I will be at the Apple Store in Medina, TX tomorrow morning, Sat. Aug.2 at 9AM for anyone interested in being a "team leader" and in joining in on a practice run with us on the Sisters. Also, we're gonna scope things out for logistics and make quick contacts with the owners of the places we will be meeting at next weekend just so they are aware.

If you've never done the sisters before and just want to check it out with us in your 86, anyone is welcome to join us on this run. We'll have lunch together probably a little after noontime at the Bent Rim Grill in Leakey, TX.

Be sure to fill up with gas before you leave San Antonio or fill up in Bandera like I usually do. Gas is more expensive in Leakey and there are no gas stations on the run. (You don't want to run out of gas out in the boonies!) Your cell phone is non-operational out there, too.

See you in the morning if you can make it!

I will be there in spirit, sadly it is Christmas time at work and I was not able to get Saturday, 8/9, off. This run sounds epic and I truly wish I could be there. I really want to get my BRZ back on the sisters with my relatively new suspension. Maybe for the next run, perhaps October/November?

86 Day Recon Run went well. We wasted a lot of time talking before we left the Apple Store. 9:45 when I glanced at my clock as we turned on to 337. One major slow down just before where TX Motophoto sets up. We ended up pulling over for a good 5 minutes and that was enough time for the bike rider to get past the twisties. The vehicle belonged to the bike rider and had its flashers on. Speed was like 9 mph. Did they think to pull over to let cars pass them....NO!

Friday night, 7 PM, I will be in the Best Buy parking lot of the Forum Shopping center (off I-35 and 1604) with t-shirts for the 86 day run. Please come if you're interested in meeting up, grabbing your shirt (if you ordered one) and having a pre-run meet, with maybe a drink or food at the Lion & Rose pub!

Twisted Sisters Run Oct 11, 2014

Twisted Sisters Run Oct 11, 2014 What is a Twisted Sisters Run? Spirited driving on Ranch Roads 337, 336, 335 in the hill country near Leakey, Texas.

Route Map

Why: a) because we can. b) because race-car. c) schweeeeeeeeeeet twisties. d) lotsa fun. e) all of the above.

When: Saturday, October 11th 2014, 9 AM.

Where: Meetup at the Apple Store, 14024 State Hwy 16 North, Medina, TX 78055

Store opens at 9AM. Early arrival allows us to visit a bit, take pics and check out the store (try the apple ice cream!). We will roll out from Medina about 9:20 AM to drive to Leakey, TX.

In Leakey, we'll stop at the Stripes Convenience Store for a pit stop. (Last chance for gas and restrooms before the run).

Counter Clockwise run this time. We'll stop once or twice on the run for brief 10-15 minute photo-ops.

Lunch @ The Bent Rim Grill in Leakey, TX after the run.

Menu

Other info:
1. Weather permitting. If it is wet, we will re-schedule for a later date. Stay tuned to this forum for last minute updates.
2. Newbys are welcome to attend. Join us...we are a friendly group and the drive is fun. Please ask questions.
3. If we have a large turn out - we will break off in to groups of 7 cars or so.
4. Faster drivers / groups will lead. Slower drivers and first timers will follow to the rear.
5. If we encounter traffic ... lead cars will pull over in a safe area to create a gap.
6. If we encounter bikes ... ramp it down folks.
7. Don't drive unsafe. Be very very alert. Use extreme caution. Stupid, show-off stuff is not allowed.
8. Bring FRS/GMRS walkie talkies if you got um. Extras will be shared by their owners if returned!! Channel 5-1
9. Cell phone service is limited or non-existent past Bandera. Only AT&T works in Leakey.
10. We will wait for any folks if they are running late getting to Medina.
11. DISCLAIMER: By participating in this event, all drivers/participants agree the organizer(s)/lead driver(s) will not be held responsible for any incident that may occur on the run that would involve or result in damage or injury.
12. Please feel free to add anything I might have forgot!!!
