Haven't heard anyone make a comment on my username in a while lol. @Dimman Well I spent another few hours thinking about what car to move into...wanting rear seats is a serious problem :/ E46 M3 is in the same range, but with the valve adjustments (1500 per 30k wtf) and such it seems like between that and a 996, one is like bleeding money at a somewhat predictable and high rate, and the other is like a hemophiliac; if something goes wrong, you're screwed. Except the BMW also has some hemorrhaging risk as well...damn Germans. Gave the IS300/250 another thought, but I'm not going to get a sedan, I'm not that old yet. Everyone has a G35, that's a no go. Supra...hmm. Pre-2000 makes me queasy, though I really want to drive an MkII MR2 sometime. |

Maybe... Corolla or Matrix XRS 2ZZ/6M for practicality, and keep the Spyder. Once 911 money is easier, gut the XRS into the Spyder for a tracktoy and daily the 911?

2 cars is out of the question, not a possibility at all. FWD also sucks. A WRX would actually be pretty cool, but a 25 year old engine with 5 speed gearbox kind of kills the coolness.

You're not cool unless you're driving a cool car older than you. I think they're 2800ish lbs with a 2.8L DOHC 12 valve. Retrolicious. On a serious note, I think the G35 you mentioned is the most modern thing that qualifies. Join the herd? I can't honestly suggest an SC430, though it's sorta a G35 competitor. Too ugly and not a driver's car.

But after being that guy with the useless 2 seater for so long, I am feeling guilty The G35 looks like a giant fat pig (the E46 actually weighs more, but it looks more svelte), but the biggest problem is the VQ exhaust note. Everyone knows a Nissan V6 powered car just rolled by when you have one of those, and the sound is awful. I guess some mufflers would fix that, but there are no "///M" badges or "Carrera" badges on it to tell people that once upon a time it was a glorious high end car, and let's be honest that's kind of the point of driving a gas guzzling 2+2 boat around. |

I don't think you're in a financial position to get what you want right now. You have what is fundamentally one of the greatest modern driving cars. But you need a 4 seater, to fill with bitches. Soo... Best compromise is the obvious one. What forum are we on? Yup. Do it.

I dunno man, lack of common sense is still telling me to go for the M3 or 911 lol. After driving a Porsche Cayman, I realized that true driving nirvana is a small 2 seater; a 2+2 is for boulevard cruising in style, and the German cars fit that bill pretty well. You can probably tell, I really wish I could swing a 991, they are such beautiful luxury speedboats (using the "luxobarge"/"yacht" analogy). |
