The only thing I've gleaned from this thread is that no one knows the price, it will be higher, it will lower, car color doesn't matter, car color does matter, and that everyone thinks they're getting a good deal.

This is the quote I got from Geico last week. The rep only asked for description of the car, MSRP, make, model, body type, # doors, engine displacement, HP.

Adding BRZ as my new daily driver, and demoting my current car as my beater backup car, I would pay additional $258.50 for 6 months with my current 100/300/300 coverage and $250 deductible for est 10K miles/year total distance driven. This is based off my 5 years no ticket, no collision, no claim history with Geico. This is the quote after taking off home-auto discount, multi-car discount, defensive driver certificate discount, advance degree discount, and others which I don't remember. Oh BTW, my current beater car is an '07 335i.

Can't wait for my WRBP Limited Manual BRZ.

So the amount that I got quoted yesterday, $1633/yr(BRZ), $1622/yr(FRS) for full coverage in SoCal...has anyone gotten numbers similar to those or better? Just curious.

No, but you didn't tell us anything about yourself, and to top it off a $1000 deductible is too high.

I always go with $500 or $1000 - if anything happens under that it's cheaper to just cover it out of pocket in the long haul cause your rates will probably go up.

I have my deductible set to $200.00. I would go less if possible. My rational is that if I am paying every month for insurance, why would I want to pay when it comes time for work to be done. It's just as well since I live in a really congested suburb of the greater DC-Metro area, and the lion's share of my claims have been fucktards using my car as a parking guide in parking lots.

$500 is fine, but the difference in premiums between a $500 deductible and a $1000 one usually isn't enough to make it worth it (IMHO). I have a $250 comprehensive and a $500 collision deductible.

That's not always true. There is a big misconception aout that. Additionally, the difference in price between those deductibles is sometimes relatively minimal. But at least go with a low comprehensive deductible, since that portion typically accounts for a smaller percentage.

I've never been in an accident. I'm 30 years old. Have a decent job. Got a speeding ticket in july of 2010 for 14 over. Still this seems a bit high for just one ticket.

Just called Geico about a BRZ quote. It wasn't in their system yet but she did ask several feature related questions such as ABS, airbags, ect. I gave her the Limited Auto purchase price and she plugged her numbers in based on my preexisting profile.

-23 yo, male, one minor accident, no citations, multi car discount, $1000 deduct
= $830 per 6 months ($50 more than I'm paying for my GTI)

She proceeded to explain that the rate should only change mildly after Geico obtained the actual vehicle specs at release. The first year would remain unchanged until Geico's "third party" could determine safety ratings, accident rates, driver demo, ect. Then the following year could be a drastic change in cost.

Sounds promising!

I've mentioned before (several times actually, haha) that I work in insurance... I decided to just quote myself with the cars through a few carriers to find out. Again, the cars aren't yet recognized by any carriers, so I have to enter information in manually.

Just to get basic stuff out of the way:

Orange County, California
Single male, 28 years old
Clean driving history
College educated
Liability coverage of 100/300/100
Uninsured motorist bodily injury of 100/300
$5,000 medical payments
$250 comprehensive deductible
$500 collision deductible
Annual mileage of 7,000 (which is about right for me)

Safeco/Liberty Mutual: $1,171.90 annually
Drive/Progressive: $2,038.80 annually
Foremost/Farmers: $886.90* semi-annually

There you go. For me, Safeco had the best rates (though I currently have a policy with them for my Evo). There are other companies I can quote with, but some of them are standard/non-standard carriers more useful for people who have blemished driving histories, so I didn't bother, plus I don't want to spend all morning quoting myself with a car manually, especially since the other preferred carriers that I didn't quote myself with have interfaces that will take longer.

I put an asterisk (*) next to the Foremost quote because it was an interesting scenario. In most cases, if it's a car not already in their database, you can pick that option to more or less "create" a vehicle for them to insure based on its information. As an insurance agent, Foremost doesn't let you do that, but oddly they did already have the 2013 Scion FR-S in their database, so I went with that instead.
