We'll agree to disagree. I feel it's coming from Subaru. The only reason they wouldn't is because they wouldn't want it to step into the WRX segment.

Because it went up a price bracket wouldn't make a probably then 2800-2900lb car slower. It pains some, but more power is wanted by a lot of enthusiasts. They know this, they'll do it if they don't want to creep into the WRX segment. The motor is being used in Turbo version for the new WRX, it's probably already sitting somewhere in final form in a test mule. Though the new WRX may become a new beast if they go with a new exclusive platform to save weight and benefit handling more anyways.

60-100hp added to this car via Turbo would put it into a completely new level of respect, one of that being similar to the old Exige/Elise S.

Don't be scared, power is a good thing. It'll make the car significantly faster in a straight line, and more importantly, through a lap on a track.

Everyone loves more power of course. But what I think was meant by this comment is that getting the car to say 300 HP but making it 33-36K, will up the car to a new level where it will again be slow for the competition and people will still complain. Heck regardless, people will always complain.

What bracket would it be in then at that price? Nothing game changing, nothing it's not priced up against right now as the BRZ edges too close to 30k as is. More people would be happy then, thus less people would complain. No one loses. People who want more power for obvious reason win, there's still the NA version for those against it gaining more power, and that it's price stays the same there.

It's a win-win.

It's definitely a win-win, I'm not against another version made WRX, STI or whatever they want to call it. Just pointing out what will happen when the upgraded version comes out

The BRZ Limited is already scratching at the upper limit of the price level. You can get a basic BMW 1-Series in the low 30's, you start asking yourself if an extra $100 a month would be worth it.

The basic BMW 1 series is ugly and is about as fast as the BRZ but it is much heavier at 3208 pounds. Definitely not as good handling as the BRZ, but it is a BMW. The 2.0 liter turbo BMW engine is a good engine, but its not in the 1 series coupe yet...will be next year...(2013)

Basic BMW is a car that does not exist. What you get in 'base' BMW is laughable, and to get a decently-optioned car will cost arm and leg.

Hmm, since the FA20 will be turbocharged for the next year WRX, maybe I'll just swap in a WRX motor when that time comes, if they don't deliver one for the BRZ. If they do, well, then it'll be up to how much it costs to swap it, or to trade it in.

Bellhousing might be different, stock turbo and IC location might not fit, headers might drag on the ground, etc..

Truth. To outfit a 1 Series at the approximate feature content of the BRZ would yield a roughly $40,000 baby bimmer; and you still have a pig-ugly car.
