Car noob, thus so many questions:

What does FA and EJ stand for?? I keep seeing those acronyms being used.

If you were to go with a lightened pully set what would you go for?

They're engine codes. Subaru boxer engines other than the BRZ and the new WRX are EJ engines, with the following number being engine size. EJ20, EJ25, etc. the BRZ and new WRX are FA20 engines.

Which brands did you have in particular? Both MT??

Are you actually determining that using BSFC or guessing via butt dyno? If you have any respective info on the sweet spot of the FA20 feel free to share.

If it's using rubber it may not be a balancer but it is a damper. A balanced damper at that.

I presume all those motors were MT?

I did the lightweight pulley set about 7 months ago.
I got all 3 pulleys (crank, alt, water) for $185 shipped.
I chose this because it was easy to install for me in my garage and did not require any special tools and much simpler than a LWFW.

If and when I go FI I will put my stock crank back on.

ACT StreetLite Flywheel for the STi, im not sure what was in the A4. It was a long time ago and It came with the car. Both were MT, i've never driven an AT with a lightweight flywheel but I can imagine that the drivability is better. I'm not saying that a LWF is terrible all together, its a blast to have in the car for going on drives and makes shifting better, it just gets old fast. Whenever I knew that I was going to have to do a lot of stop and go driving I would try to take my wifes truck. It was that annoying.

I don't care what anybody says. The car was slower from the line after the LWF install. There's a reason why people don't use them for dragracing. If you're planning on taking your car to auto cross then it might be a good install for you. It's going to come down to personal preference its one of those things your either going to love or hate.

LWFW is probably a different beast on boosted motors. On a high comp NA (in my experience) it doesn't take much to get used to.

I really should install mine so i can be specific about one on a FA20.

Very true both of those cars didn't start to spool till about 3400 , if it wasn't for the money and the pain of install I would try one out on my BRZ. Guess I'll shut up about now Just noticed that none of the downsides of a LWF are mentioned anywhere on the forum yet.

I like it. Like infamous said if you can get it under $200 then its fine but I would not pay more for it.

I did not notice a big difference just a little quicker to rev than with the stock one on.

Originally I had different plans for my car than I do now and I bought the LWCP set and a TRD intake kit.

Now I have different plans for my car and if I could do it again I would not have done those two mods and saved my ~$550 and put that towards a FI fund.

I can get the crank pulley set for 145.

What would you have used the money for instead man?
