I have clearance over the fuel line with the mocal plate filed down. I'm going to take it off soon to double check there is no contact or rubbing but I check the clearance every so often with a piece of paper to see if it will slide between the two components without issue. If you have a CAI you won't have any issues (I am using the stock airbox) as you can rotate the plate and the lines away from the lines.

So I finally got the FR-S out on a track to get a sense of the cars oil temps under moderate stress. The temps outside were mid 70s with humidity and the track was relatively short (1.3 miles) so not alot of long straights.
I was 6 to 7/10ths most of the time with occational spurts to 8/10ths as I was shaking off alot of rust. Most of my sessions were 6-8 laps depending on how my tires were feeling (I was being a bit conservative being my first time out in a while). That all said, my oil (0W-20) got up temps of ~225 degrees towards the end of each run. Never saw it go above 230. As my driving skills improve and I run the car harder I could see getting close to 250 degrees in hotter but if thats my worse case I'm pretty happy all things considered. I'd say the cooler has me covered for the type of driving I'm likely to do. Another novice driver with our club who was running the car pretty hard in NA form without an oil cooler was seeing ~250 degrees when he backed off after 6-8 laps to be safe. He is also running e85 so his engine was likely generating more heat than mine.

Very nice set up. I like the piece it together route you took.
Out of curiosity, has anyone considered running their oil cooler behind the bumper to the driver side. I was thinking of placing it there and cutting out the fake plastic mesh grill below the turn signals and cutting slits in the fender liner for air to pass through. Wondering if the space there would provide enough air passage to be an effective mounting solution in case someone has a larger front mount intercooler. |

Well I was going to build my own, but @Maximal did the work for me and cheaper than I could source the parts.

Tj, I considered trying to mount one their, but I have a BRZ with fogs so decided to just go with the conventional spot up front until I go FI in the far future.
