Cool Tunehouse BRZ Tuning program preliminary details

Tunehouse has released the first details about their upcoming tuning program for the Subaru BRZ.

Specifications are still being finalized, but company founder Jim Ghelis envisions the model will use a 2.6-liter Cosworth crate engine with a billet crankshaft, an HKS turbocharger and a front-mounted intercooler. The car would also be equipped with a billet flywheel and an EcuTek ECU. Thanks to these modifications, the BRZ would likely have an output in excess of 335 PS (246 kW / 330 hp) - an increase of 135 PS (99 kW / 133 hp).

Besides being more powerful, the car would be outfitted with an adjustable KW coil-over suspension, Whiteline anti-roll bars and a limited-slip differential. Other goodies are slated to include a Cosworth braking system and 18-inch Advan wheels with Federal RSR tires.

im not liking the fact that all tuners r going for the ej series just cuz its a tried n tested platform, id rather see someone push on the 4u-gse engine, even if it means changing internals.

Me too. I'd prefere to see tuners working on 250-300 PS NA FA20 engines.

Its not really possible for most of them to be developing the fa20 at this point.

i think they should take their time and grow with the car, i mean wouldnt it put them on the map more if they managed to put decent hp figures on a stock/upgraded system that people can buy, rather then slapping a 5000$ plus engine getting 600bhp, hell given the cash, im sure alot of members on here could do the same. whats new in a EJ pumpin 500bhp plus??

A 2.6L boosted Cossy with only 330hp? Id like to see some plots, those lines ought to be linear as hell.

Yeah, 335ps from a 2.6L Cossie with turbo had better be one hell of a robust powerband! I like the idea

I think it's just that all of these tuning companies want to do something attention grabbing (ie big power, wide body, etc) to build brand identity in a new community. FI kits for the FA20 will come in a few months, but right now, any tuner looking to get some word-of-mouth going has no choice but to swap in a more mature powerplant.

The drift cars are a different story. They need power now, not next year. So there's no option but a swap.

Except for HKS. They kept the FA20 & slap on SC

It's true, and I think Old Greg hit the nail on the head as to why this is the case... But I think it's safe to say that there are plenty of us, in this forum at least, that WANT to see companies modify the FA20. Many of us are curious to see just how tune-able this engine really is.

I'm sure you already know this. I'll just be 'captain obvious' I suppose..
