White out

Can someone explain to me what is so special about the White out paint. I had to pay an extra $255 for that colour. The dealer said because it is a premium colour.

It's a tri-stage white pearl. The paint is applied in three stages and material for some of the pearls are pretty pricey.

And it'll cost you 5x as much to fix when it chips! And it'll chip, yay!

Wait til you get a panel replaced. The body shop will whine at your wonderful pearly paint, but in the end get it to match

I had a new door installed on my whiteout, door $800, paint and labor $3000. Painful to fix as it has to be blended correctly or it will look like sh1t. On the plus side the PPG paint used is 10x better than OEM so far!

Color is BEAUTIFUL, but it is hard to match. I posted a thread about matching whiteout. Not an easy task for the painter.

Couple things to remember. (1)It's a car. (2) whiteout doesn't match from the factory. Plastic parts are always a different shade then metal (3) if you get into an accident, you will likely add a third shade that you pray will not stand out.

That is my goal with the bumper. I told the painter I wanted it perfect, but in reality I'm just looking for it to not be an eye sore. Crossing my fingers and hoping to get my little lady back tomorrow

As far as the pros out weighing the cons, yes, IMO. The color is stunning. It catches so much light and gives the car a lot of personality. Still happy I went with the color even knowing that this bumper mess might turn out to be a nightmare

Do you mean sun burn or like a paint reaction to different lighting conditions?

In the case of the latter, check out this photo of my BRZ. The change in color depending on the light is dramatic and beautiful. Notice how it is a crisp blue under the sky but a warm gold from the sunlight.
