Same here; I got a lot more wear with staggered pads, and overheated the front brakes more, as you shift the bias forward with a less aggressive pad in the rear.

Also, a square pad setup also helps with rotation during trailbraking.

I think a lot of the straights on the track are going to be painful. The car is insanely slow. But that's ok, it'll still be fun.

Don't understand the comments about boiling ATE fluid...I mean, I understand them...I've just never seen it happen. My friends drive their cars hard and they've never had a problem. The BRZ is a turd of a car and there is so much time between turns at RA. I'm not going to change fluid for this event since I won't be driving hard, but what fluid are you guys suggesting?

Road America is probably the hardest track on brakes in America.
Spring for a high boiling point fluid. Be ready for brake fade.
Start with pressures of 32PSI cold if you have over -1.0 camber and 34PSI if you have under -1.0 camber.

These are good tips as I'll be going to RA with the ITR Expo group. Will get some high temp pads and proper fluid. Torque fluid?

If you're against spending 20 bucks to ensure the below doesn't happen into Canada corner…well, I don't know what to tell you. Running ATE isn't going to make the car less street able.

I have buddies with a race car on slicks, a BMW 540i, MazdaSpeed 3, C5 Vette, C6 Vette, and M3 all running that fluid. We go to RA each year, some of them more than once. Nobody has ever had a problem. I also run that fluid in my 750hp C5.

As mentioned above, this is my first session at RA in the BRZ and will be driven as such. Slow and smooth. Some of you guys must be some pretty outrageous weekend racers, which is fantastic. I'll pay attention to any fade, but I don't suspect any issues.

How about recommending some fluid that might be "better" on this track for next time?

EDIT: Robbie...not sure you're on the same page. I WILL be running ATE, it's already in the car. The folks above are saying it's not good enough.

Hmmm…. guess that slipped by me. I've never had any issues with ATE in my 944 Spec car.

My issues with ATE went away when I switched to Castrol SRF; later, I went to Prospeed RS683, and it worked well for me, too.

ATE is really the minimum.. I personnaly run Gulf RF1000, which is equivalent to RBF660.

Awesome weekend! Car did fantastic. Never had any hint of brake fade whatsoever. Just as happy with the Carbotech's on this car as I am my ZO6. Loved the track too. First time running it.

That's a weird mounting position for the camera. Which Carbotechs were you running?

I like doing interior views. Works great in my Vette since the rear window is so close to the drivers. Not so well in the BRZ with the window further back and mirror in the way. . Trying a different spot next time.

I used Carbotech XP10 fronts and XP8 rears.

I'm using Carbotech XP10's all around as well and love them. Great brakes.
