Problems with staggered setup?

Has anyone ran a staggered setup and had problems with wheel sensors? As soon as I mounted my wheels (18x8 front and 18x9 rear, 225/40 and 245/40) my CEL ABS and TRAC lights have come on. Also the car will not rev over 4k, parked or driving. I took it to the dealership and they said the wheel sensors aren't working because the different size wheels/tires and toyota can not recalibrate their sensors. They messed with the car and computer for over an hour with no fix for me. I find this hard to believe... Looking for some input/ help! Thanks

Not sure why your check engine light would come on if it's associated with your TPMS sensors. Did you reuse and swap over the old sensors? Is there a chance the shop you took the car to get the tires/wheels changed out may have damaged them or were faulty? Probably a no-brainer but have you tried disconnecting the battery (to reset the ECU). I've been running a staggered setup for a bit and haven't encountered those problems.

EDIT: So from reading your other posted thread (essentially about the same issue), it sounds like you need to install brand new TPMS sensors since your old ones weren't transferred over. Keep in mind the TPMS light may not immediately come on upon changing of the wheels/resetting of the ECU but it may many miles later. If you're doing the install yourself make sure they don't get damaged (as they can be easy to do so) and remember to jot down each sensor's ID info as you will need this when you take it to the dealer to reassign the ID numbers to each wheel.

It's not the TPMS sensors, it's the wheel speed sensors. They're detecting a difference in speed between the front and rear due to the diameters being too different.

I think your only options are:

1) Live with it how it is (not ideal)
2) Get smaller diameter rear tires
3) Get bigger diameter front tires

I'm not sure what the actual tolerance percentage difference is, but you've obviously exceeded it.

225/40's are 25" in diameter. 245/40's are 25.7" in diameter. You may have been better served to go with a 245/35 at 24.75" diameter. Or a 255/35 at 25" diameter. Also, for every mile driven, you back wheel revolves 22 fewer times than your front wheel. It seems your traction control does not approve.

Get the 255/35's. They'll fit fine on a 9" wheel and the diameter is almost exactly the same as the 225/40's.

Or 215/45's on the front, to match the 245/40's on the back. The problem with this is now you're a full inch over the OEM tire diameter and that causes other problems. Basically, you bought the wrong size rear tire.

I'm going to go with the 255/35 in the rear. I really can't go any bigger in the front without rubbing issues. Hopefully this will end my nightmare 😝

The front tires are 245/35/18 and the rears are 265/35/18 for mine. Haven't had any issues lately.

I have 18x8.5 with 225/40 on the front and 18x9.5 with 255/35 in the rear.. And no tpms sensors at all ... No issues at all .. But I only drive about 15 miles one way to work and then home .. If I drive any over that the tpms light will go off but as soon as I get home it turns off due to the fact that my stock wheels are right inside my garage and I guess the car picks up on that ..

Thank you. I just ordered the same size rears you have and already have the same size fronts. I hope this will fix it. Toyota said my cel is reading right rear wheel sensor but they won't replace it, they said it's because my tires aren't the same circumference. I will lose my shit if that's not the problem and I paid $360 for 2 more tires.
