Right rear impact with a stationary object? Do you think they backed into something, or Initial D'd it into a light post? If the latter, there may be more undisclosed damage to the suspension, axle, or diff that could bite you in the ass later.

Isn't that false advertisement! I agree with everyone else, you should get a lawyer and maybe also have them contact the BBB. I wish you luck and hope the dealership won't be a hassle in your "return."

First, the screenshot does not say the Carfax was clean. Second, they offered the Carfax and you should have reviewed it before signing anything.

The good news is that if you bought it from a Subi dealer, you should be able to take it back for a paint warranty problem and missing clips because they said the car was clean. Moral of the story, never trust the dealer....

Never knew CPO could have been in accident, thought they automatically disqualify for CPO if involved in accident. Guess I missed something or only for certain brands...

Certified Pre-Owned basically means that the dealership has inspected the car and warrants it in good enough operating condition to where they will warranty the condition of the vehicle for a limited amount of time. It makes no promises of any past incidents with the vehicle. At least that's how I've always taken it.

Start by checking the RI motor vehicle website to see if they have an area for dealer complaints. If they do, contact the sales manager or GM of the dealership, tell them you've found evidence of shoddy repair and see what they're reaction is. Remind them that motor vehicle accepts complaints (If you learn this to be true, it usually is) and see if their reaction changes.

I have my doubts they will offer to buy-back the car or have the car repainted (as others noted the statute in most states is days for buy-back not weeks). The car is used and used cars mean repair may have been made.

You'll want to start by looking at every piece of paper within the contract to see if they claimed no accidents. If not, it's a case of buyer beware. Unfortunately that means that it is doubtful you have any legal grounds for recourse but if you choose to pursue a quality lawyer they should be able to tell you yes/no about pursuit without generating a bill (consultations are complimentary/bar regulated in most states).

I think you may be over reacting. First its not a salvage title. Second body shops these days are good, the paint they use is probably better than the factory paint in many cases.

I put 80k miles on a Civic EX that I knowling bought with a salvage title, most dependable car I ever owned.

If its straight and drives right. With used cars the onus is on you to look it over, have a mechanic check it, etc. All used car salesmen lie, its their job. Calling a lawyer is ridiculous IMO. A slight mismatched paint, think about how long it took you to find it, probably no one else will ever notice.

Perhaps there are other issues you dislike, like maybe the engine ?

To answer the OP's question. Yes, I returned a new Land Rover many years ago after having it for 46 days. Full refund due to mechanical issues.

You had a legitimate reason, though. It sounds like OP doesn't. I would be surprised if there was a law "protecting" buyer ignorance.

I'm in a similar situation.. The carfax was clean, but I later found the car to have an odd tire (1 sumitomo and 3 stock michelins), missing clips from both the rear fender liners (the rear bumper has been off) and you can see weird stuff going on with the paint on the right rear quarter panel. Not sure what I can do about it.. Bought the car 3 weeks ago.

Has anybody ever "returned" a car?

I imagine a bigger concern for OP is understanding the extent of the damage and what was done/not done to correct the issue. Additionally, salvage titled vehicles usually go for significantly less, right (depending on the situation of course)? Maybe OP got a fairly good deal in terms of price, but I'd still want some money back for being strategically skirted around the absolute facts. But maybe I should let OP speak for OP's self...

My Golf was effing "certified" after it was in a serious accident and I bought it without knowing about it and then raise a stank at the dealer. It drove so well I didn't end up following through because I love it. I just know they'll honor their misleading when i trade it in for a 2015 GTI next year. Dealers will do anything for a buck.

I just think people put to much into carfax. I'll take a car that's been in an accident any day over one that never had its oil changed.

True story. This VW has had literally no issues over 1.5 years and 20000 miles so its really hard to complain.
