Not exactly... Totaled does't mean the repairs are worth more then the car. Lots of other factors determine if a car is totaled or not. Things like damaged pillars and airbags are a liability and can total a 30k car even if the damage is worth less then 10k.

In this case the suspension damage alone will likely be around 7 to 10 thousand, add in the cost of body work (hard body work not just new panels) and potential C pillar damage. like I said before I'd say 60/40 its and the more I look at it the more Im leaning toward totaled.

LOL, I love all the internet insurance adjusters who can tell when a car is totalled from a few blurry pictures.

OP, this sucks you seem to be taking it well. Hopefully it is totalled, but only your insurance adjuster and the shop will really be able to tell you that at this stage.

At least your ok and you didn't get hurt. In the end it's just a car. But hopefully it gets replaced. Or you'll always feel like it's tainted

I got hit by a drunk driver before.. honda civic trunk was flattened all the way to the rear tires.. if I got t bone instead I know I would be dead if that kind of damage. . Luck to walk away without a scratch. ..another chance in life I get..

Your car looks gone.. the way that wheel is turn like that the frame where the shocks are mounted might be bent pretty good and sub frame damage. . Sorry to see this happen to you but glad you are ok

Not quite.. 19K * 75%... So $14.25K would be the number

Idiot drunk driver is going to enjoy jail and hefty fines for a long time. Along with probably having the lowest credit score ever.

Most states consider a car totaled if cost of repair exceeds 70% (give or take 5%) of the value of the vehicle. Don't get taken for a ride on that fact. Especially since, as someone else said, the car will never be the same.

Not sure about the state he lives in but in MD its 70% of the value. I have my own body shop. I'm pretty familiar with what it takes. If they totalled every new car hit like that we would have no work. Its really not that bad of a job when being looked at by someone who does it for a living. It just looks really bad to people who are not sure what it takes to repair it

Damn... Same thing happened to my girlfriend a few years ago. Her Explorer was parked out on the street and some idiot kids were drunk in a big lifted truck and hit it. They rounded the corner so fast that her Explorer ended up on its side.

Hey guys, the insurance adjuster is coming to look at the car on Tuesday, so I will know the fate of the FR-S.

Any friendly wagers on the outcome? I think its gonna go down something like this... lol.

ouch that sucks.
was there any damage to the passenger side? depending how hard the idiot driver hit your car, your car could have been pushed right to the curb doing little damage there to
