I'm down for ATL for the Tail of the Dragon. That would be my main reason to go there. My guess it will be hot down there as well.

New Jersey is alright I guess. Depends on the venue. Weather shouldn't bad compared down south. Plus closer to the beach on a hot day.

North Carolina is alright. Never stayed at Charlotte, but been down there plenty of times to stay mostly at South Carolina. And let it be known it gets very hot and humid there.

Virginia.... I got nothing. Hmmm, its closer I guess. ƪ(‾_‾)ʃ

86EXPO 2014 Coming!

Don't put Georgia as a place to go. I heard you get shot without warning.

Coca cola tour maybe?

I'll vote virginia. DC has a huge selection of food trucks that will be willing to be at an event. Lots of food varieties and VIR is a great place to host your expo in.

hmmm

Georgia - Did Basic training at Ft. Benning, and been to ATL twice its damn hot in the summer, It's pretty nice but nothing really stood out to go back for besides to drive the tail of the dragon.....

Tennessee - Never wanted to go to be honest, mean out of all the places in the US Tennessee wouldnt even crack my top 20 to visit, but I could be missing out on something...

North Caroline - Been twice its nice, good scenery especially driving up. Feel like its a good distance from NY and FL and everyone in between to drive up.

New Jersey - Has its good spots for meets, I'm in Philly so go out to most the meets in NJ. With Tri-State 86 club we have a bi-annually meet in Atlantic City theres a good 100+ of us so thats already a good amount of members. Its close to New York and Philadelphia two major cities for people to visit and can stay there instead of staying in NJ if they didnt want to. Bit biased since its close to me but I just know more about it ha...

Virginia - Close to beaches well so is NJ,NC etc.. Its a kool spot been multiple times, has a good scenery also and good spots for meets I always see while I'm there. Cops can be a nuisance, I always seem to get pulled over there more then I do visiting anywhere else tho .....

I would vote NJ or NC ...

Georgia - AMP or Road Atlanta. There are also several dirt tracks. Braves if you want baseball. Normal touristy stuff, plus a couple of hours to Tail Of Dragon, Lake Lanier, other water locations. Lots of hotels of all price ranges, cheap flights from most of the country. Downside, summer can be hot but so can all other places listed.

Tennessee: Some good areas, but just as hot as Atlanta. East Coast mountains don't have the elevation to cool things down in the summer like west coast.

Carolinas/Virginia: Both would be OK depending on the area, but same temps, etc.

My suggestion: Carlisle, PA.
Rent the Carlisle Fairgrounds (two options). So far on their site they have no events for July 18-20th and 25-27th. You can rent the Fairgrounds or the Expo Center. Here is the link: http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/default.aspx
There is also a northeast version of the “Trail of the Dragon.” It is State Route 125 and here is the link: http://www.motorcycleroads.us/roads/pa125.html It isn’t too far a drive from Carlisle, Harrisburg, Hershey.
This road is simply the best twisty road within two and one half hours drive of New York City. Bar none. It contains a number of 180 degree, mountain hairpin turns that you rarely find in this part of the country. The road contains hundreds of turns once in the mountain stretch of it. Right before the mountain twisties is a 3 mile, flat, straight dragstrip-like stretch of road -- perfect for getting the carbon out of your engine before attacking the mountain twisties. Traffic is light. This is a roller coaster ride of a road that you will never forget. It is the 'Tail of the Dragon' of the northeast. I call this my 'double black diamond' road -- it is for serious drivers only. I have never left this road without a smile on my face and my heart pumping. Wow! - Scott (9/18/09)
Pros: PA will be cooler than south for the summer for those wanting to escape the heat. Carlisle is 35-40 minutes from Hershey, PA. Carlisle and Harrisburg are inexpensive. There is an airport in Middletown (close to Harrisburg). http://www.flyhia.com/
Cons: Further away than Virginia for those in the FL area. There really isn’t a track near here. However, you may be able to fabricate a cone course if the Fairgrounds are rented.

You think making two events is a good idea?

Not happening. For 2 major reasons:
1. The cost to make two events same time is just ridiculous. You got over $10G~$20G willing to pay upfront? Oh & don't expect to get all the money back.
2. How much time I need to coordinate two events at the same time is crazy. My hair got salt & pepper from last yr's event. If I coordinate two event at the same time, I'll be full silver hair! lol

If you wanna make Two event? Sure go for it. I'll just totally cancel this East Coast event. Cuz to coordinate all the things are just tiresome. Email all the sponsors, email & call outside sponsors, Advertise this event, coordinate location, go through contract, pay few G's for area rent, coordinate spaces for the vendors, coordinate members for autox/track, schedule flight/hotel/rental car, order plaque, coordinate car show, read shit load of PM/email & reply ASAP, explain to haters to understand the reasons for your actions, design & order banner, get logos from vendors... & there are way too many to do lists that needed to do. Just let you know, I'm not living off doing this. Which means, all the crazy stuff I go through & I won't earn any income, not a single cent. You think, mods get paid? Moderating forum & coordinating event, I'm doing all this for the love for 86 & members. I/we don't get paid to be mods or even get sponsored by anyone.

So let me ask you again, you think making two events is a good idea?

You know, because @ichitaka05 has a secret cadre of underlings that do all this work for him, and never has to do anything other than come up with amazing ideas.

Maybe we should just find out what "Silver Fox" is and change your name, Ichi
