aFe Takeda Intake

Not sure if I should be posting this as an individual topic or as an installment to a car journal. Let me know how I ought to do it.

I thought I'd start documenting what I've done to my car and give some (hopefully) useful and realistic feedback.

Last week I installed my new aFe intake. Install took 40 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Even pre-tune I can say that top end power has slightly increased, and I find myself reaching higher RPMs slightly quicker. Additionally it sounds a lot throatier, and my car sounds like it's actually enjoying WOT. A cleaner engine bay sure doesn't hurt either!

Here's a bad 3AM photo of the install.

And here's a bad 3AM photo of what I pulled out. Notice the accordion manifold and the resonators on resonators on resonators slowing down the air and quieting it down.

I was leaning towards the Injen for a while after reading the comparison test on here, but after some consideration I decided the aFe is more "tuneable" due to what I believe is a better design and the fact that it doesn't try to trick the MAF by redirecting airflow.

I'd like to see how it does with full I/H/E and a quality tune. Especially compared to other systems.

Yeah, it's a sound generator outlet that remains un-drilled from the factory, which I find great because I choose not to use it. If you so wished, they include instructions for drilling it out and the proper hardware to hook it up to the stock sound generator piping.

Nope, that works for me, just curious as most aftermarket intakes don't have that nub
