Thats the second thing that I had to enable on this car that should have been enabled from the start, the first being the proximity unlock to unlock both driver and passenger door.

Open the driver door with the car off, hold down the lock and panic buttons on the key fob for approx 5 seconds. When you let go the car should beep. Now both doors will unlock when you touch the door handle.

Thanks for the info. I would have expected my factory alarm to be enabled, but it wasn't. Picked my car up a few weeks ago so its still not enabled from the factory.

if you have a flashing car with a lock beside it on your dash, does that mean the alarm is on?

no. ours flashes regardless of whether the alarm is activated or not.

For those having trouble: the sequence has to be carried out rather quickly to work. its also a longer hold than 10s, closer to 15+ on our BRZ.

Apparently not lol. It has a car with a lock on it flashing... But according to the post above, that is always flashing :s
