Installed Revolution 4-2-1 EL header
Installed my Revolution 4-2-1 EL header today! I got this header from www.Japanparts.com (thanks!) who kindly ordered it for me from http://www.revo-tune.jp/ . The build quality is very good as expected from a Japanese header and it had a nice double slip joint with springs to solve the expansion issue. In my view a much better solution than the flexible joints. I did have to by new OEM gaskets though, which I got from http://www.jp-carparts.com/ (thanks Osamu!) and I also had to supply two nuts and bolts for the header to up pipe connection. The header also came with only 1 oxygen sensor bung installed so I installed another one 3" downstream with an 1.5" stand off.
Here are pics of the headers on the floor, installed, making the extra O2 bung and a video after the install. It sounds very mild in this video but let me tell you it screams, the iPhone microphone doesn't do it justice. Planning to try and dyno sometime this week. Big thank you to Hani at Zspeed Performance for the install! Enjoy. [ame]http://youtu.be/xoChPG-5Vf8[/ame] Updated 1/1/2014: So I took the BRZ to the Dyno and here is a photo of the run. It put down 183whp. Also here is a link to Datazap for the same run if anyone wants to dig deeper. http://datazap.me/u/brn12345/dyno-run-headers?8-27 Last edited by brn12345; 01-01-2014 at 03:16 PM. No sound tube. Stock airbox with panel filter and tomei cat back. Obviously the headers too. I am still running stock mid and up pipe with the secondary cat and resonator.

The Revolution header came with only one O2 sensor fitting. I welded in another about 3" downstream and put about 1.5" extension. The rear sensor is okay in terms of wire length. The main front sensor fit fine but the wire would not route the oem route so I just tie wrapped it in place.

Pretty expensive for a header not including ceramic coating and needing modification for O2 sensor stuff, but it looks nice and the fitment must be much easier with that design.
I really like their front pipe that has a cat and a small muffler, kinda like our oem front pipes. I wish more companies would offer this. I know Nameless has a catted and hemholtz-resonated front pipe, but I doubt that this reduces overall volume the way Revolution's small muffler/resonator probably does. |
