Many things look easy until you try them. In your case softer compound tires and a higher rpm clutch drop should help. Since I have an auto I need a shorter FD gear ratio and/or higher stall tq converter. |

Not to bash or disrespect or anything, but here in Puerto Rico a frind of mine ran 14.7 1/4 mile on a completly stock FRS. I just wished or hoped it would be faster with all those mods........................ guess n/a isnt an option for the FRS

I just ran my car last night. Finally managed to break into the 14's. 14.97@97.6mph. It was 45 deg F out, so it helped the MPH, but hurt the traction. My car is standard, stock except for a drop in filter and Nameless axle back. Did get to see a Nissan GT-R run a 10.57@142... Scary fast considering he drove it there.

There actually is a company that has a thread on these forums. Higher stall TQ converter, Transmission cooler, other goodies.

You don't want to dump the clutch, ever. You want to slip the clutch and slingshot launch. You're only dumping the clutch when the car makes enough power than it needs a brass clutch and you can't slip it. Your time is pretty much determined at the launch. These aren't drag cars, they're street cars.
The other thing I see new people doing at drag strips is shirtig too slow. You should be shifting so fast that you only just raise your foot off the gas, say to 50%. I had a version 6 sti a few years back, kept it bone stock and demonstrated these techniques in some videos. I have them somewhere on photo bucket or whatever social media was popular at the time. The launch in particular, dumping the clutch at low revs would bog, too high revs or letting the clutch off too fast would spin all four wheels. Would get mid 13s. Get the lianch perfect and it would do 13 flat. Even got a couple of 12s. FWIW 14.5 is fucking decent. I had a type R integra that would only do that. I also had a stock s15 silvia that would only do 14.2. But spent $3k on it and it was doing 12.7. |

I agree. However, slipping isn't something you learn in a day or so. I'm trying to work it out on my launches. At least, I preload the clutch on my runs by lifting the clutch gradually till the car tends to move. I try to keep some clutch pressed during the initial movement of the vehicle. Somehow, I still get the tendency to let go early. Getting there hopefully
