Get BRZ with all the goodies and swap the front bumper. It's cheaper that way.

This does seem to make the most sense for those interested in the FRS front look with BRZ lights, just keep in mind you will need to pick a color shared between both companies. (I assume it is official, or close to official, that many of the primary colors, silver, black, white, grey, red..will be the exact same between BRZ and FRS)

You could just get it color matched. I though factory bumpers came unpainted? if they do come painted that is cool. A factory bumper can't be no more than like $500.

Now how do we get rid of the silver trim in the BRZ?

The subaru brochure shows Carbon dash kit already. I think once the car is out interior dash kits will be plentiful. A simple overlay kit would take away the silver glare.

I don't know why every one keeps saying this. The BRZ lights clearly angle down sharper than the GT86. Looks like you could put GT86 lights on a BRZ with a bit of cutting, but not vice-versa.

I think it's because some Moto-P guy had a "source" tell him they're the same dimensions, so unless my eyes are lying to me, I dunno if that's true.

The headlights are direct fit, its the bumpers shape around the headlights that is different in both cars " sharper edges in the 86 bumper also the headlights sits deeper than the BRZ " which creates the illusion.

Basically..

Q. Can you physically swap and bolt on a BRZ and 86/FRS lights?
A. Yes.

Q. Are you going to run into some fitment problems with the 2 different front bumpers?
A. Yes.

Q. Is it a direct swap.
A. Yes and No

Q. Could BRZ lights look weird on a FRS and vise versa.
A. Maybe, depending on how much cutoff you have.

Q. Are the head lamp wiring the same for both cars?
A. I have no clue.

This is just one of the reasons why i'm designing two separate front bumper aeros rather than 1 bumper for both cars because of the design of the lights (not the physical dimensions of the lamps).

After seeing this photo of an FR-S headlight, I change my mind and do believe they are the same dimension.

If you pause this video at 2:20, you can see the corner of the BRZ headlights do indeed tuck in behind the bumper and if left exposed would most likely have the same shape as the FR-S. The crease on both headlights is what's convincing me that they're the same.

Moto-P is a reliable source I would say I mean he is the founder of club4ag which Toyota themselves said they talked to when the originally wanted to bring a car into market with the spirit of the 86

He has also driven it

I think they will swap over 100% normally when you think of sister cars they are usually more different but not this case all in the bumoer treatment and trims

i bet they're the same dimensions.

not cost effective at all if they change a slight angle of the headlight housing for different bumpers of a sister car.

^+1 the casings must be blown from the same mold.

It would be stupid if they were blown from different molds to only look slightly different upon close inspection. If they're going to invest in that they might as well style them to look distinctly different.
