I loved my 99 DB8! The Integra 4 door looked so much better (unless it was a Type R, but that is an entirely different car)

As for this car becomming a 4 door...Not interested. There was a reason I bought this car, and it was for my enjoyment, not to haul a bunch of people around in it. Sounds selfish but if I wanted some doors I probably would have bought a Impreza WRX.

How about we start with a hatchback first, and work our way up to a sedan from there. Please.

At least one of these does not belong with the others.

Damn, all this talk about "image" as if having a (comparatively) lightweight RWD 4-door sedan is an affront to your silly conceptions of what people think of you based on what you drive....

If Toyota can't profit from building the 86 platform (and you can't run a high volume profit with just a 2-door coupe), guess what happens to our (yes, even those of us waiting for a 4-door option love this car) beloved twins?

They'll end up where the Supra, RX7/8, S2000, S15, 300ZX etc. went - the graveyard.

I don't see what doesn't belong there. A car made by Mazda with the dimensions of the twins along with a better rotary engine? That's not even a wish list, that'll be out in a few years time.

Haha it was a rotary dig.
As much as I admire different ways of doing it, the rotary just hasn't proven to be either reliable or capable of good gas mileage.

We can dream though.

I've always felt that the Mark X G Sport is dead sexy. It's got a few limitations that keep me from considering one:

1. No manual transmission offered (though you can try swapping one...$$$$$)
2. I don't like V6's. Give me an I6 or a V8. This car is begging for an LS swap.
3. They're expensive, even used ones. For example, this 2012 model is ¥3,980,000 ($40,000).
4. All the used Mark X 350S GS's are white. I want a black or charcoal car. The lower-spec Premium models that are black tend to have hideous cream interiors.
5. The interior is too cushy and luxurious for my tastes. You end up paying for creature comforts that are unwanted in a spartan sports sedan. Could probably save quite a bit of weight putting the car on a diet though.....

The point of an 86-based 4-door is to get a CHEAP RWD sport sedan into the hands of enthusiasts.

Doing all of the above to a Mark X would essentially create.......the Chaser that I own now, but involve spending an extra $50k to accomplish the same thing. For that sort of outlay I'd rather drop an LS engine into a Cadillac ATS.

5 speed manual, 1JZ-powered (1.5JZ in the works), RWD, ~3200 lb. sedan with Recaro seats. Although pretty common here, the problem is they are all 15 year-old rust buckets. We need a new, rigid, modern chassis.

I bought mine in December for ~$4,500. It was a white 1997 automatic with a tranny swap and black paintjob. Turns out the car's front subframe is bent (probably owned by a local drifter who wrecked it, fixed it, sold it).

My roommate bought one in August for ~$3,500. At first I was jealous but his tranny doesn't downshift correctly (maybe bad synchros) and he might have an ignition problem.

All the used sports cars on this island are beat to shit. The decent condition Tourer V's are usually $6,000-$8,000.

I got lucky with my 2003 JZX110 Mark II. It may be an automatic, but it's in immaculate condition. I'd much rather sell it ($10,000 OBO) and put the money into making my Chaser a ~600whp, Megasquirt-controlled, digital dash-equipped beast.

If you really want I could probably figure out how to grey market import a JZX100 for you, there are 2-3 of them in Texas that I know of.
