Good luck keeping Raven clean. Definitely 2 bucket washing is a minimum. Black cars look awesome when they are clean, just tough to keep them that way. |

Mine stays clean when it is in the garage... well except the dust that magically appears. I don't have time to constantly wash it, and I drive at least 100 miles per day to / from work. It's rarely ever clean. haha
Mine is also an auto. Given my commute, I chose auto. It's my work car, so I knew my modifcations would be fairly limited. The auto does enough for me.

A bit like your opinions, no? There has not been an E-penis thread in a while so keep posting. LOL. We wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

The first FR-S I drove was an A/T and was so impressed that I ordered a 10 Series M/T the same day b/c it's in my DNA that a car must have three pedals.
Now, with 3K miles and a few track days, I'm on the fence, the A/T is that good. It might be a little heavier and longer geared, but the 21st century paddle shifters, rev match and convenience make it a tossup if the $1K A/T premium fits in your budget. The biggest benefit to the A/T is one I haven't seen mentioned much, the torque converter's dampening of the midrange sag that's more noticeable, and annoying, on an M/T car. The A/T is a better DD, no need to double clutch on the 1-2 upshift waiting for the tranny lube to warm. Ultimately, it's a more practical car with the same or maybe better fun factor. About detailing, IMO the polish step is most critical, it smooths the surface from mechanical and chemical contamination and with a good carnauba wax will be durable and reflective unless you run it through a car wash then all bets are off. The trick to a black car (I have one now) is to hit it before it gets too ragged with something like Griot's Speed Shine between washes. http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/speed+shine.do |

This Topic has been debated to Death.
Just a thing to keep in mind, most of the Racing Technology now come with A/T Paddle. An Example of a Super car that does it is GTR, then there is Ferrari, Lambo Blah...blah....if u are willing to look into it The problem is how hard it is to get Older Generation to adapt to new Technology. |

Opinion aside, here are the facts:
The automatic FRS is slower. The gear changes are sluggish. Here is my opinion, BASED on fact / experiences: If you disagree on the sluggish gear changes, you haven't driven a proper steptronic. I bought my BMW 135i in the automatic. Why? It is faster. Factually faster. Much easier to launch at the dragstrip, arguably easier to track, instant shifting, amazing amazing transmission. If the FRS had the same automatic tranny, I would have bought the auto. But I drove an automatic FRS. It's not as bad as the shifters in our Dodge Chargers that we sell, but nowhere remotely close to what I was used to in the BMW. |
