I was a security guard during college. Pretty easy job. Mostly guarding construction sites at night. Stayed in the car and did patrols every hour. Spent my time mostly studying. They pay around $10-$15 an hour and usually they hire anyone. Look into some dispatch companies.

Lol the guy who wrecked his FR-S and couldn't afford to fix/keep it back already? How one becomes so financially irresponsible is beyond me. Plus you live in Kalifornia, sell the car and be like all the other hipsters. Ride a bike everywhere, take the bus and shop at thrift stores.

nahh i dont wanna sell my frs, my car is fully paid off. if i sell the car for 20,000 using it to buy a fuel effect car for 15,000 aint a smart idea... i worked hard to buy this car. I could of decided to not attend a higher education and continue to work my ass off for what i want in life or continue my education and make easier money.

everything i need i have a school: gym, showers, nap centers, and theres hella food downtown.
I dont have parents to piggy back me thru college like most of you might have..

Store the car somewhere then you don't have to pay insurance dmv and registration. Get a bike go on craigs list or something and find a whole bunch of people with apartments for cheap. Maybe you can just sleep on the couch and give em $50 a week?

Funny you say that, I didn't borrow a penny from my parents for college. I filled all my paper work, did everything right, got my financial aid and school loans. Definitely did not have a "nice" car like the FR-S until after college, once I started making some real $$$.

Depending on the school, you probably won't need a car. I rode my BMX all around campus, saved me from having to pay for parking, tickets, and it got me places quick. Living in a car of that size is going to suck, I didnt even know you could camp out in cars overnight within California.

Which college are you at? What options do you have for living space? Go with some of the recommendations on Craigslist, you can get a decent place for cheap (you're in college, you DON'T need much at all).

Also, check out jobs on campus, I worked at a few places doing a variety of things. Whatever it is, work for it. Hustle hard (not drugs), it'll pay off if you keep looking. Hard to believe there are ZERO jobs down there, I lived there for 20 years. Live within your means.

Goodluck

Just on this post alone, I can tell you don't have your priorities straight.

If getting a fuel efficient car for less money, and selling the FRS so you can have a roof over your head isn't a smart idea, then no amount of college education will help you out in the short or long run.

If you think you can live out of your car, more power to you. The situation is obviously not as bleak as you make it to be if that is an acceptable option to you.

paid your car in full? maybe you should have saved the money for college. if you wanted college, you wouldn't have thrown all that money in a car. you need to re-evaluate your priorities. plus, 86 is too small to live in.
