You're telling me.I wasted $900. When I took the car to the dealership there was a Scion representative there. He basically told me the bumper was fine when the car left the factory so it was my problem.I tried explaining to him that the bumper the clips everything is brand new and the bumper still wanted to come off at one corner. I got so mad I ended up cancelling my extended 7 yr warranty and gap insurance that day. I am now waiting for a twenty eight hundred dollar check from Toyota. The salesman at the dealership got so pissed that he was going to lose commission that they offer to fix the car. I told him no I wanted my money back and I would fix the problem.

I took the car to two different body shops. When they would get one side fixed the other side of the bumper would pop out !Both body shops said it was a design issue. If the bumper was cold it would stay in place and would seem like the problem was fixed. As soon as I would drive and the bumper would get hot I would say here we go again back to the body shop. The bumper wants to shrink and flex when it gets hot. One guy said that the old GM Saturn's had the same problem. Its crazy that we cant take the bumper cover off without have this issue. The body shop tried double sided tape, glue , and god only knows what else. Nothing seemed to work for long. If you keep on taking the bumper cover off you end up doing more damage. The bumper, bracket, and plastic tabs SUCK !!!

Like I said before. The way I got the bumper to stay with the speaker wire is ghetto but it worked. I can take off the bumper without having to worry about how the car is going to look. I'm having a turbo put in and was afraid that the bumper was going to give me problems again and look like s*** . I only had to put the wire on one side and its tight as hell . I drove the car at over 90 miles an hour and the bumper stayed in place. The fix work so good it should be patented.

I wanted to let you guys know if you're going to buy new brackets save your money. It's the bumper . I have the APR break cooling duct kit When the bumper is cold I have no problems. As soon has the bumper gets hot the tabs that hold the duct on pop off. This also happens on one side only. Once the bumper cools down I can pop the duct back into place.

Yes, I can confirm as well that this works pretty well. It isn't 100% perfect but a heck of a lot better than before. Thank you for sharing this very simple and quick fix for us. Just a heads up... I didn't use the roller, I just put some tape on the end of a thin flat head screw driver... took about 5 mins to do both sides and they are about 90% "perfect". Happy Happy Happy

Good to hear that at least you can deal with the issue for the time being ! Looking at the bumper popping out was driving me nuts !

sorry but i beg to differ on the whole it's the bumper , 1. it's kinda hilirous that the rep and bodyman actually convinced you it's the bumber it "shrinks" in the heat come on guy, that whole car would eventually within a month or two deform and nothing on the whole car would line up if that was the truth however it is the truth the bumper brackets ARE the source of the problem and no the bumper, how do i know you may ask well i work at a dealership that one we DO have a tsb for this problem and that we HAVE fixed one to date. im pretty sure more will come in, the soultion is a revised bracket ,yes the bodyman you took your car too was correct there is a design flaw, and subaru has made a revised part that involves the tabs on the bracket to be sharper in design and thus solving the issue. However i cannot say the same about toyota if they had even cared one bit about the issue you should try to look up the most current tsb. hope your local scion/toyota dealership doesnt try and give you another cold shoulder.

I beg to differ with you sir. My dealer and subaru of Canada have heard of no such bumper tsb or redesigned brackets. If you have a part number for said brackets, could you kindly share.....
