Stock Muffler Cut Open

Thanks to @Clipdat for the free muffler so I could do this. If you guys want, I'll give you more info on how you can cut it without causing as much damage as I did.

Is the inside of the muffler really without acoustic fibers or did you just take them out?

exactly what i was going to ask

Comments on the vid in youtube say it was empty.. not batting or filler at all..... Looks like it has a small bottle type resonator in each exit pipe.
@jsimon7777,
Thanks a ton for doing this..
Are there any block off plates or baffles on the tube inlets for the exit paths or the main inlet from the midpipe? Also, the inlet for the right hand side outlet... hard to see in the video what is going on with the pipe.. looks like it is turned down towards the floor of the can... but does it touch or is it just angled down a bit?

Without getting a better look, my first attempt at modding would be to cut out the pipe sections in yellow, then pack the areas in blue with muffler packing material.

Official first OEM muffler cut open award! I'm surprised you got to it so quickly, couldn't wait to see what was inside eh??

Looks like there's definitely some improvements to be made, can't wait to see what you end up doing with it.

I'll take a look later along with higher-rez photos. The pipe is turned down some.

Then you obviously aren't done. Get back out there and make a blood sacrifice to the performance gods.

would be louder due to less resistance on the path to exit but that should also mean a little more power. Ultimately i am after the best flowing quiet exhaust i can get. If you have to spend more than a 100 bucks on material and labor it gets to the point that an aftermarket unit is more attractive.

For best flow you would probably need to gut the interior and weld in a perforated y pipe to connect the inlet and outlets then pack the core with steel wool / muffler packing material.
