So what all do I need to make this work? I see that the Rydeen duo is like only $100. Which wiring harness do I need to just plug and play into the stock BRZ head unit?

contact SVDX and he will send you the harness. you literally plug that into the back of your head unit and tap the red wire or use the harness he provides and thats it. then all you have to do is run all the wiring back to the trunk, drill your trunk garnish and tuck all the wiring and thats its. really no more than an hour if you take your time and kill a 6-pack

Does using the factory mounting location throw off the image since it's off center?

No because the lines that are built into the factory deck are skewed to match. The factory location works great and if you start looking at other cars with factory back up cams you will notice they are almost always off center.

to be honest i dont even pay attention to the lines, you can visually see the distance of the bumper to w/e is behind you.

Not only that, but you can configure the line placement anyway. I have a license plate camera that's dead center - I adjusted the lines to reflect the same.

For symmetry freaks like me who hate offset stuff, you can adjust the lines on the camera via the HU. I installed m Rydeen smack dab center and its way more stealth than the offset install.

I've been waiting on svxdc to return for the power wire update on the HU harness so haven't done the install yet (don't want to tap the factory harness), but I think a couple of others may have ordered from there as well and I haven't heard anything negative...
I'm getting pretty antsy though so I might end up installing anyhow soon. |
