Toyota FR-86 vs. Subaru BRZ

Please no flames!

I did not make to thread to find ot which car is better, but rather what are the differences and what purpouse.

At the beginning of the TOYOBARU porject everything was clear: it was to build a LIGHTWEIGHT AFFORDABLE SPORTSCAR. Many possbilities being possible, the TOYOTA was to be NA and RWD, and the SUBARU FI and AWD. Later along the road, it was said both would be both NA and RWD, as it would defete the purpose of the car. The question then is why have the same car with two different badges ? Because both were involved in the project ? They could then just creat a new brand for this model, let us say "86", and then in the future develope this brand, and make more version, for example a coupé, a hatch, eventually a sedan.

Now there is again a rumor of a turbocharged engine. But the real question is, what are the differences between the two ?

Are they really the same cars only with different badges? The chassis would then be the same, so the doors, the windows all around. What about suspension? And the interior, will it be the same? Will most of the parts, other than engine that is clearly from Subaru, be Toyota or Subaru parts?

Could one of them be more luxury and the other more sporty? But they both seem to have 200 PS.
My thought would be the intial BRZ (FI and AWD) could end up being the WRX, which this time will not be based on the Impreza, and in order the let this car grow in the market, for now only the NA RWD model will be sold in both brands.

I really hope everything will clear up soon.

Any thoughts?

I mean, if both are exactly the same, other than by price and look and personal attachment to one of the brands, by what critereas could one chose between them?

For the love of god people why can't you accept that it's the same freaking car with slight styling differences on the front and rear ends (and maybe different interiors).

That's it, no FI, no AWD, no diferrent engine options, nothing.

FR-S and BRZ are the same car with different badges get over it.

BADGE ENGINEERING

Badge engineering has been around for a very long time. If you haven't heard of it before, or you refused to believe it will be the case here, too fucking bad
Get over it

Garage
Vibe = Matrix
Prism = Corolla
3000GT = Stealth
Talon = Eclipse

The list could go on for a very long time, just can't remember every name of every car.

However, can anyone think of two Japanese car companies badge engineering and selling in the U.S. market before this? Drawing a blank. There are dozens of Japanese = American examples, but I can't think of any Japanese = Japanese

at the end of the day, you just have to wait and see what they dish out, and if you actually get both cars.
