What are the benefits of converting to E85 and how much does it generally cost?

its 105 octane. 320whp is the limit on 93, 600whp is about the limit on e85. It costs nothing other than a tune. I ship it and store it in 55 gallon drums its so amazing.

If you want to do it cheapest way is here basicly $500 USA and you get device Openflash tablet and tunes for pertol and E85 on stock car or car with headers www.openflashtablet.com you could do it with ecutek tune and install flex fuel kit it a better option and fuel changeover is outomatic but you need ecutek device and tunes probably about $1000 plus flex fuel kit about $700.

on a naturally aspirated stock car E85 (with tune) worth about 20hp but economy will be about 25% worse.

Cut both numbers a bit and you'll be closer. E85 gives you ~5% more power without modification, ~20% less range per tank.

Main benefit is much higher chance of a getting a new engine sooner than you expected!

Seriously though E85 is extradonarily variable in quality year round and sometimes even from each delivery, it is not a safe fuel to be pushing the car on. Like anything else in life you get what you pay for and E85 is a gamble because real power never comes cheap.

PLenty of people use it successfully and plenty of people will get a bad fill and break things. The octane may be as high as race gas but the quality and consistency of the fuel is incomparable.

Competely agree! Take a look at this uoa from a modified/protuned WRX. You don't see very many uoa's from a WRX trashing Rotella T6 5W-40, but E85 is a whole other ballgame!

Of course, a trend of uoa testing is a bit more helpful instead of just one uoa. Notice the change in uoa results in the WRX trend in the bitog link.

Would like to know how the tuners properly adjust the tables based on those readings while mainting the maximum power and safety levels.

I just don't trust E85 back when I was making big power on built wrx with lots of turbo, every well known tuner I talked to said they would not go near E85 on any car they wanted in 1 piece and that if you wanted the performance race gas was the way to go.

That is tuner dependent, but @jamesm has it nailed down perfectly, based on fuel physical properties. I wouldn't run E85 without flexfuel that is for sure. I have seen in my gauge many times really bad blends randomly.

I store e85 in different containers than I transport it in and my supply stays a constant e level.

Yup barrels of e98 and mixing it yourself takes the ratio variables out, unless you're drinking it as u mix it lol.
