Put it on the trailer to haul it to an AutoX tomorrow.

Which reminds me, I need to get another tow hook.

Beautiful Saturday morning...or so I heard. I woke up around 12:30 and decided to do some driving. There's a pretty large man made lake about 5 miles from my house. Complete with beautiful, smooth, winding, scenic roads to drive on. Great place to drive. With the navigation on to just plain old map view, I decided to check out all the random back roads I for some reason never decided to tread on.

Here's a shot from an elevated parking area on the boating side of the lake.

http://i.imgur.com/WU2B8.jpg

At one point I actually managed to get my nav to make it look like I was dipping the nose into the lake.

http://i.imgur.com/rRInI.jpg

This was one of the roads I never went down before. Scary thing was that as soon as I got into it I realized that there was no way it could be a two lane road but there were also no signs saying otherwise. It wasn't till I got to this spot that I had confirmation (From the stop sign facing me) that it was indeed SOMEHOW a two lane road.

And another shot on the picnic area side of the lake, I used to just pull right up to the lake for pictures but there were too many people around today and my car was too small to get away with the "oh shoot I thought I had my boat trailer hitched up" excuse.

Put on my Grimmspeed front license plate mount and mounted the plates that (finally) came yesterday, and then took a 4 hour drive up and down the SoCal coast.

Chauntalei 06-30-2012 08:02 PM

Haven't left the house yet today, but thinking about taking it to one of the local touchless washes for a quick spitshine.

jimbobrand 06-30-2012 08:39 PM

Drove mine today since I installed my Grimmspeed front plate mount, tinted the windows and washed and waxed the BRZ earlier this week.

Floggin Tires 06-30-2012 09:17 PM

Thought about how it could of slipped through in shipping, and be extra early.
Have my dealer call and tell me to pick it up!
...Sadly none of this happened.

Mind you, didn't even get past 5k rpm and it was spinning. Yay skinny tires!

Citified 07-02-2012 09:46 PM

Is there power up there behind the mirror so that you can hard-wire the v1 up in the headliner? That would make a great install and a sweet how-to!

There is since I have an Autodimming mirror, but I am so damn lazy I used the cig lighter in the glove and wired it through the A pillar - roof lining... I know if the airbags blow something will get ripped out...

A minor problem if that actually happens.

Bought new wheels and tires. And now I play the waiting game.

Sc0ob_do0D 07-03-2012 12:24 AM

Called SOA for an update on it, only to find out there's still no VIN or ETA.

:sigh:

Oh, and shrugged once again as someone asked me, "When do you get your car??"

:suicide:

Just installed a SPT oil filler cap and the SPT battery hold down. Looks pretty decent and matches my WRB!

Stared at it longingly before I drove to work in my daily driver car. :(

I bought a daily driver just to keep the miles off of her, but I'm wanting to drive her every day. haha.

Last week, it got new catless headers, new intake charge pipe (but stock airbox) and was dyno'd on 2 seperate dynos, 175-178whp, up from 159 stock. <3

brz-vic 07-05-2012 03:31 PM

They sound like a couple of very effective mods. More detail on the parts, the supplier, the cost and how easy it was please. How has the increased HP changed the performance?

post 3 for this car with catted header back exhaust. One of the very last posts, Jason has the graph comparing the 3 different header designs against eachother and against stock:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=400

The catted header design felt the best down low and helped improve the torque dip to the point that I didn't really care about it any more. The catless has less of those gains down low, but more gains up top- probably better for a track vehicle. It's also louder, obviously.

The axleback I'm running is the nameless with 6" custom made mufflers, that's $550. The downpipe I'm running is a high flow catted design, with the overpipe integrated into it in one piece, so less flanges, less weight, and replaces 2 pipes. I believe that's 500, with cat. The downpipe and axleback by themselves made 11whp across the board with 19whp up past 6500rpm. Add the headers in there, and it goes up to 19whp across the board with up to 25-29whp gain above 6500rpm.

Overall, massive gains. But the car seemed to baseline a little lower than some other cars, so I'd love to see these parts on one of those cars that managed to baseline 165 or 170 whp. I think Drift Office's FR-S is at 167 stock. Man, with these parts, he'd be up near 186 peak whp. that'd be cool to see.

Lytheum 07-05-2012 11:37 PM

picked up my license plates and put the grimmspeed front plate kit on. was putting the rear plate on and decided it was time to debadge. letters came off really easy and goo gone took care of the leftovers. also called to set up and appointment for window tinting next week.
