Maybe. There was talk on another site like these were the next version of the Bstone 200 TW tire. Could be just pulling everyone's leg. There were several pics of used tires that were supposedly "test" examples. Probably BS.
I just bought a new set of RE71's so based on my previous timely tire purchases I figured there was a good chance something new would be released the day after I bought my new tires. |

One runs them as a HPDE/Optima USCC/Auto X tire on a STi, and the other does the same for a S2000. Both cars are harder on tires than ours, so it's hard to compare. They said with not-too aggressive street use and some autoX/light track it'd be under 10k miles for their cars. I'd say two canadian summers is do-able, but it really depends on what your street:other ratio will be. It scared me off, and I went with the michelin PSS - I drive about 10-12k per year on them (another 5-6 in Chicago winters). The michelins are amazing street tires (and wear pretty well with autoX), i'll likely see 25k+ miles out of them. Track days kind of destroy them though. They lose grip at autoX when pushing hard, and the 71-R's would definitely be better but I couldn't stomach buying a new set of those every year, so I deal with the lower level of grip. |

Since I was so wrong in my previous thread I should probably keep my thoughts to myself (I'm still more than a bit embarrassed I fell for that...) , but I have seen many recent posts (second hand info again, buyer beware) indicating that the v720's have had delamination issues. I seriously thought about trying a set, but based on what I have read I decided to stay away and stick with what I know works, and works well.

I have the RE71r, have multiple auto-x and hpde days on them. I don't see them lasting a year for multi purpose use if you do any heavy auto-x or hpde. If you do an auto-x here and there, they will be fine. If you do 2-3 a month with 2-3 hpde a month... nope.
I have about 2k street, 10 autox and 3.5 hpde days on mine and they are at half tread. |
