No. Every sensor has a unique code that has to be set on the ECU to make the ECU recognize the sensor.

I believe you can buy sensors that are programmed with codes you specify. But this would require you have someone read your factory sensor ID's so you can communicate them to the vendor.

It's easier to buy a set for $30 on ebay and get the ATEQ Quickset for $130

I'll admit I didn't do much research on TPMS sensors and assumed anything would just work.

After reading this thread, I'm actually a bit embarrassed I didn't do more initial research, since all signs point to the contrary.

I do remember reading something about another owner who installed a set of wheels and tires without TPMS, but parked his car in the garage next to the stock set of wheels with the original TPMS sensors. I can't find the thread, but I remember someone commenting that the TPMS have a small broadcast range and it takes some time for the actual TPMS light to be triggered. Because he parked his car regulars next to the original TPMS, the light would never trigger.

Coincidentally I park my car next to the stock wheels w/ TPMS, so perhaps this is the case?

I'm confused haha.

Parking your car won't make the light never come on. After driving away from the stock wheels you car won't be able to communicate with the sensors and the light will turn on.

There is no magic way around this, you need to buy sensors that have ids matching your stock sensor ids, or you need to buy sensors and write the ids to your ecu.

Well still confused, but it's been weeks and hundreds of miles and no TPMS light.

Do you drive a bunch of short trips? If you want to test this, let air out of one of your tires, the light still will not come on.

I've swapped my wheels before without writing the new codes and I've driven a few trips without it coming on, but eventually it does. I'm surprised you've made it hundreds of miles without it coming on.. That's not very comforting.

What a coincidence I was a part of that beta in August to enable TPMS ids in carista for Toyota and Lexus vehicles never got a chance to try it out, I'm assuming it's on the main app now and not in beta anymore?

My average commute is probably around 25 miles when I take the car to work. Farthest round trip is probably around 75 miles.
