I have therefore concluded that MMO does not fix the problem. You may have a different result, but I doubt it. I'm trying the TC-W3 next. |

Added 1.5 oz of ashless 2-cycle last night after I filled up, not sure if it mixed entirely because the crickets were still there, if muted, this morning.

I also threw out that insulation Toyota did to my pump. It had a part number on it and everything, so it looked like Toyota was planning on using that as the solution if it worked. It did not, and if anything, it probably made my fuel pump hotter. |

mine are all gone, now i add ethanol to strait gas to boost it cause our gas is garbage, one thing i noticed , and i think this should be noted, i went to mix my 2stroke ashless into the the ethanol before mixing it in my tank, the jug being transparant i saw the oil just sink to the bottom in strands, usually it will cloud up the gas when mixed in gas, i let it sit for a minuite and all the oil collected at the bottom of the ethanol, then i shook it up, let it sit and it went from blue to clear and the oil at the bottom again, seems like the ethanol doesnt mix with the 2 stoke oil, so e85 may not be possible to mix a lube into it i would recommend testing prior, or youll have a accumulation of unmixed additive in your tank lurking at the bottom just waiting to clog your strainer

I'm at 2800 miles on my 2K14 FR-S. Still on factory fill oil.
I tried roughly 2oz (probably slightly less) of Walmart SuperTech TCW3 for the first time before filling up with QuikTrip 93. I never even noticed the crickets until I saw this thread. Sure enough...chirp chirp chirp. After adding the SuperTech TCW3 I immediately noticed the engine seemed to run a LOT better. It might just be the placebo effect but within 2-3 miles it seemed like the engine was pulling a bit better, as well sounding much more healthy at high RPM. The crickets are still there but not nearly as bad. I also noticed improved idle smoothness. The car doesn't seem to shake like it used to when I would turn on the A/C or the headlights. I'm only about 80 miles into this first run. One thing I did notice is the occasional rotten egg smell. I know TCW3 is supposedly safe for catalytic converters, but I sure hope it's not hurting mine. |

Had mine changed yesterday. Once I got home, 7 miles away, I swear I could hear it chirping already.

So has anyone had the pump replaced and it resolved the crickets? I'm thinking the crickets return for every pump that's been replaced. Brought my car in for an inspection and they ordered a pump due to the noise (even without me asking). I don't think replacing it will do anything.

Mines been replaced. Chirps came back within 3,500 miles. Everyone I know that's had there's changed had their chirps come back as well. non ethanol gas is the easiest fix if you can find it. I have a station near me that sells but unfortunately it's $4.45/gallon and it's only 90 octane. The other fix seems to be the TCW3 Ashless 2 cycle. I bought a 2oz(60 ml) medical syringe to carry mine to the gas station so I can add it to my next fillup. I'm running a full tank of non ethanol thru first. Then gonna try the 2 cycle oil mixup. Will update as soon as I see any results. LOVING the no chirping right now tho with the non ethanol.

For me the crickets go away in the winter (consistently less than 45 degF or so) and if I run non-ethanol gas. But same with you, the non-ethanol stations are few and far between and it's expensive. Although it killed the crickets within the first 50-100 miles on that tank. |

I've been using Quick Trip gas for the past couple tanks and had a lower cricket issue. Filled up with Shell two days ago and the crickets are viscous.
