If you are having problems getting services... make sure you do two things.

1. Take video on your phone of the chirping. (if you just drop off your car they may say... we didn't notice anything abnormal)

2. Take a copy of both TSB's Subaru and Toyota's with you

Everyone at the service department kept on saying it was a RARE problem like they had been told to say it.

I'll post updates if I notice the chirping return, you will notice the car sounds different with the new pump.

Here is a copy of my service invoice
You did exactly what I did. Things get done real fast when the customer is informed. You can put them in their place real fast. Hope you have good luck with the new pump. Otherwise, tell them you want it insulated if they come back!

After taking my car in last month for the first scheduled service i mentioned about the chirps. They were cool with it, and immediately ordered the part but it's on "back-order" at the moment. I took my car in last week for an CEL due to debris in the Oil Control Valve and without mentioning it they said they heard chirps and made sure i was on order for the new pump. But they said it's still on back-order with no time table, which i'm hoping is a good thing (maybe new revision to insulate?). Given Matt's situation with the dealer making the effort to fix it then I don't mind waiting a little longer.

I hope the new pump works, not holding my breath. At least for the next 1000 miles I won't have to hear the girl at Taco Bell drive through go what's that sound? I just took a look at it, and they didn't insolate it. I was told that they were going to add this change to the TSB but I guess they didn't.

The insulation so far is good. They did fill my gas tank back up at no charge so I want to be sure it's working after a few tanks. They did not mention this revision would be in the TSB or not, but I bet this was their next step.

This is the same 5176 part number pump that was chirping. All they did was insulate it now. I have no chirping for almost a week now, but it is still very early. After a few tanks of gas I'll report back here and to Toyota most likely to just revise a TSB to start insulating everyone's pumps. Not sure why this wasn't done in the first place.... Seems very effective.

This will have the fuel pump run hotter as you're not going to get a cooling effect from air blowing over the pump. The engineers already accused your tune of making the pump hotter causing the chirps, so they add insulation which will dampen the noise but at the cost of the fuel pump increasing in temperature.

This probably wasn't done in the first place and will take time to phase out (if it does) because they had to run through the engineering to make sure that this doesn't shorten the life of the pump (notably the rubber seals inside the pump would be most susceptible to premature failure).

Had the pump replaced last Tuesday and the crickets are back. Compared to the woodpeckers, I'll take crickets anyday.

I feel like they are already convinced the pump insulator will be okay since the 2014+ forester XTs come stock with the hpfp insulator. If they feel that it will be okay on those cars from the factory, I dont think we have anything to worry about.

Since ownership in March 2013, I've had the chirps a couple of times. Seems like hit or miss (Comes on days when it feels like it).

I do notice that sometimes, if I drive my car harder (Shift above 4000 rpm), it tends to chirp.

2014 FRS at 2100 miles and I started getting the chirps daily now so I took it into the dealership and they ordered the new pump for me.
