I don't buy it, unless it has a new part number.

Even with the crickets, its better than a genesis. This isn't even a major issue.

Yes, do not get your pump replaced unless you can confirm its a new part number and new TSB.

0, it's under warranty. No one should have to pay for it.

Had the chirping noise kick in, took it to Capitol Toyota in San Jose with 1150 miles on the odometer. A couple of the service reps are aware of this issue, so take it there for hassle-free repair if you're local. Got my car back just last night, no more chirping (for now). They also checked my floor mats for some odd reason?

thats the new craze at toyota. it has to do with the gas pedal getting stuck. that's why they specifically have tags on all floor mats now saying "don't double up".

Do you know the part number for the NEWEST version? I'll be darned if Toyota put in the old version.

Thanks

That's the same part number as before. Hopefully it fixes the issue for you.

That's optimistic, but he has about a 15% chance of it actually fixing it, and a 60% chance of the crickets coming back with more force.

Best advice for anyone in question about this, go into the dealer WITH the current part number on the TSB to compare it to what the dealer would be installing. I would ask about it first before having unnecessary work done.

...So...after having the chirps identified by my dealer on Saturday, and being told I would be called Monday or Tuesday to let me know when I could expect to get in for a new pump, I was told today that Toyota said "no" to a new pump. Toyota is working on a fix for this and I will be able to get it fixed then. I figured as much after all that has been reported on this thread, but it sucks. My chirp is ridiculously loud. I have to turn the stereo up well over 30 on the volume level before it masks the noise. Several times I have pulled into a parking lot, and a pedestrian whose back is turned to my car whips around and looks. I have a "10" edition and it sounds like a $28K+ Piece Of S#@t. I figure it is taking so long because subaru and toyota have to work together to come up with a fix. Still a great car to drive when nobody is around, and I don't have to idle. Just wanted to share this to verify what others have said: "a fix is coming..."

Just got off the phone with my service rep at Holman Toyota/Scion in New Jersey. He said that he knows about the chirping problem, and said it could be due to using incorrect octane gas. I assured him that I've run only 93 octane.

I asked him if there was a new part out that could provide a PERMANANT fix to the chirping issue. He checked his system or whatever and said that there was!

He said that it was the same part #.... but that it was indeed a new, different part. Is that possible?

Please post if you've received similar answers, or if you no longer have chirping because of a new part installed by the dealer. I have an appointment with them Saturday afternoon, so I can provide an update after it's done, and after, of course, driving around for a few hundred miles.

If the chirp fix is true and permanant... I'm throwing a house party to celebrate lol.

BTW how do you delete threads? I'm trying to delete the one I JUST made, which says the same as above, but I figured there's no need for a whole new thread.
