It's good that it works but 2T will do the same for a fraction of the cost.
It's probably basically what it is.

It might be a good idea to check the ash content if you can?

Mine does this with 800 miles or so on it but I don't understand why this bothers people so much. Is everyone's louder than mine? I can only here it at idle sometimes and can't here it at all while driving.

It doesn't bother me THAT much, however most of us don't really enjoy their new car sounding like an old Mitsubishi with squeaky drive belts.

Hey guys
I have 2012 BRZ bought less than month ago, its slighly above 1100 km on the ODO, it doesnot chirp (i beleive).
Our fuel was always known as crap here, so i sometimes using
Castrol TBE fuel additive (didnot find it selling in US).
http://e38.ru/files/%D0%9A%D0%B0%D1%...0%BE%D0%BB.jpg

I couldnot pass across all pages of the entire thread and not sure if this option been ever offered, but it seems working in my case.
But at the same time i haven't heard any complaints from the local Toyobaru owners on the subject of chirping (there are not so many owners here yet however), sofar your problems seem to be caused by your fuel (unless there are special fuel pumps were developed for USDM).
Hope above would help.

Mine started, ironically enough, right as I passed 1000 miles last week. I know it's not harmful to the engine but I'm still livid about it. At least they're not super loud.

I use 93 octane with ethanol added, sadly.

I have 2000+ miles on a December 2012 build (sat on a dealer lot for a while) but no audible [to me] crickets. I've been operating under a general principle of "if I have it, I'd know." I occasionally get a subtle, vaguely cricketish sound around 3800 rpm but not sure if it's related.

Been running on what's listed as 93 Octane here. Nothing special.

So I'm at 20k miles and I STILL have the crickets. The sound may disappear over some time from everyday use, which I assumed mine would do. Nope. The TSB says specifically that it's not going to damage your car but I asked the service guy to look into it anyway (you have a warranty, might as well use it). The stealership told me, "We looked into it, pulled it out etc. but we cannot replace it because it doesn't affect the performance of the car." They basically don't want to suffer the costs. I shouldn't have to have my car sound like garbage because the company refuses to pay for their mistakes.

Edit: My dealership sucks, they are basically criminals in my mind, who I cannot trust to even do the basic servicing. So no surprise of my results with the crickets, just wanted to post my findings. Looking for a new dealership to honor my warranty...

According to one poster here (and confirmed with my dealer) there IS a new pump in the supply chain. How long it takes to show up at the dealers is anyone's guess. Some may already have them, who knows. Meanwhile, I'm going to try some Klotz Uplon and wait and see what sort of calamity happens with the new pump.

My first post here. I've wanted a BRZ since the first time I saw one in the car mags. Been following the cricket posts for some time now. I plan on getting my BRZ in the spring but if Sube/Toyota don't work out the cricket thing, I'll have to settle for a Genesis Coupe. Come on, guys! Fix this thing.
