I can't imagine how a pump would cause noise in the engine bay, when it is behind you.. in a gas tank?
Its not under the engine bay, the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) is on the driver's side up top. Please pay attention/read.

If you check this, you'll know what we're talking about. You're talking about a different pump.

Stopped at the local Toyota shop, and asked if they had replaced any pumps. The answer was "yes", and it had not fixed the problem. I wish I was smarterer and had the skills, because I'd be turning out cricket-free pumps. Where is the aftermarket on this? Money waiting to be had.

The theory that ethanol reduces the lubrication qualities of the fuel also means the friction caused should be increased with heat. So the 2 are easily connected.

What is strange is that E85 doesn't seem to chirp but then they might add a lubricant like 2T to the fuel at that level?

Last tank I filled up with Quick Trip 93 and the crickets went on vacation (hopefully somewhere sunny and dry, it's been wet and humid here).

So from what I can tell Kroger gasoline around here makes the crickets excited.

The last time I traveled up to NY I used 91 E0 and they totally went away. Back in VA I only have 91-93 E10 and they came back in force. I'm heading back to NY this weekend - I'll test the theory again and report.

So I'm just now hitting 3,000 miles and have the horrid chirping. Went by the dealership and they'll be ordering the part for the engine of which the guy said he's already changed quite a few (no shit, sherlock) on Monday.

*sighs*

Thanks for an update. And the # of miles in those three months?
Personally, I've got 1k miles since the last attempt. So far it's record time I've been chirp free (and of course I just jinxed myself).

Welcome to the board. There is no "fix". You might as well wait for them to come back (the crickets) before you take it back in. Or just wait untilt here is an actual fix that fixes the problem.

As of today; 2,468 miles since the "fix" was installed. All with Sam's Club E10, 93 Octane fuel. No chirps.
