Oh I dislike it too. I managed to snag a parking spot next to a curb, opened my driver side door, and let it idle. Listened to the flight of the crickets for a minute, then slowly revved the engine listening to the chirp until it was finally masked by the engine noise at about 2.2krpm....but its still there.

So obnoxious...trying a combo this tank and the next....so we will see.

Is everyone who is promoting the It's-the-lack-of-lube-in-USDM-gas theory content, then, with the idea that the BRZ-FRS appears to be the only direct injection engine in the US that has a problem with USDM gasoline? Does this make sense?
I seem to recall the BMW 335is having serious problems with fuel pumps as well. They blamed it on poor quality US fuel and all the crappy additives we use to make it more environmentally friendly.

I remembered my BRZ started making the chirping noise around 300 miles, which is about start of my second tank of gas. The US fuel theory is making more sense as the source of the problem because the car was shipped with some fuel from Japan and it would probably take about a tank or two of new gas to go through the fuel system.

People who voted “No” in the poll, what brand of gas are you using?

I've been chirping since my first fill up now that I connect the dots.

Mobil 93 on my first fill up at about 300 miles. Chirping started a few hours later that night.

BP 93 on my second with no change that I noticed.

Mobil 93 again for my third.

I haven't run it till the light came on yet but I'll get it nice and low next time and then try Shell.

I really don't notice it at all on my car. Some other cars I have stood next to though it's been quite pronounced. Been running Chevron 91 octane the whole time.

I haven't noticed it yet but I haven't listened with the hood open. I've been using Chevron 91 but I might fill up with 100 octane when i'm around 75% full with 91

Yep, N55 engines were blowing their HPFP left and right. They were still popping 2 years ago, so I'm not sure if it was ever truly resolved.

Wait a minute. "Blowing" and "popping" are not "chirping." Are we talking about an under-lubricated valve/washer/diaphram, or are we talking about a normal system release of built-up pressure?

The BRZ/FR-S pumps are chirping. BMW n55 engines were DESTROYING their HPFP, or to put it simply: the pumps failed. Just google "n55 fuel pump" and you should very easily be able to find information about it.

I've been using shell v-power since I bought the car, and it's happened. I may take it to the dealer, and see what they come up with, as I need to have a squeeky window fixed anyways
