That new song "Crickets" by Drop City Yacht Club hella confuses me. Through the car stereo, the cricket sound is so subtle that I thought it was my car at first.

Am I still the only one who have this chirp gone magically?
Mine is still chirp free.
The car has 9k miles in 10 months.

You're very lucky!

I started noticing it around 600-700 miles(albeit slightly). After 900 miles you can really hear it.

Got the chirp after 600Kms running:

Petron (TEXACO) Blaze (100 Octane)

After half a tank - went back to my regular fuel:

Shell V-Power Nitro + Racing (98 Octane) and the chirp disappeared

I took my car into Riverhead Toyota here on Long island on Tues for this chirping noise because I started noticing it at about 2000 miles. They were quick in getting the part and had it fixed by Thursday. I haven't heard any noise since and I made sure I opened the car up on the highway and still no crickets. Hopefully I don't hear any noise again. The Front desk service tech told me if I do hear the noise again that I should try to wait before I bring it back because at this point if Toyota isn't updating their fuel pumps and are just simply replacing the pumps with the same original type then its pointless. She told me that I shouldn't hear the noise anymore but I know personally if I hear it again, then I'm going back and hopefully by that time there will be an actuallly recall on these fuel pumps.

So if we start hearing this chirping sound we can go into the dealership and have the fuel pump replaced...

As for the part number, if they are switching the new production of the cars to this new fuel pump they will keep the same PN so there is no confusion when it gets replaced

I'll believe there's a new pump when there's a new P/N.
Its not stupid at all. Its not a new part, just a different design.

They don't change the part numbers when they fix a design flaw in the original part.

anyone out there see how the new o-ring could be a solution?
The O-ring is the actual problem, so that they created a different one is a good sign that this problem is being addressed.

They wont do a recall on something that isn't causing damage or death.

They will fix the problem, keep the part under the same part number and change a different identifier.

If you want, it's just a noise. Get the service bulletin from the thread, some dealers are saying "it's normal" so you may have to go to a coupler dealers before you'll find one who will fix it, there's also a wait for the pumps so you may have to wait for a few weeks.

Also make sure it's consistently repeatable, if there's no noise there's nothing to fix.

just noticed my brz doing it a little bit today at 550 miles. if it stays consistent i'll just wait a few weeks and bring it in for my free oil change and have the fuel pump replaced while it's there. Luckily i almost always have the stereo on so i never hear it anyway

Thought I had it good. But, just started to notice the crickets at 1540km (Just she of break in period). Been using Shell 91 V-Power No Ethanol since day 1. Not sure if I'm going to take it to the dealer or not. Will see how it goes.
