You can adjust when that red light comes on; it's purpose is to warn you that you are approaching the engine's redline .. the "never exceed" rpms which on ours is 7500. Read the manual or search this forum and you'll find a procedure that will allow you to set that light at any RPM you wish. I'd suggest going a little lower than 7400, ESPECIALLY if you're used to taking the car up to 8400!!! Set it at 7000.. heck, set it at 6500 as sort of aversion therapy.

I totally agree with what ur saying, Isnt the red light a warning and then the actual cutoff is a bit higher up in the RPM? In the heat of the moment im having probs noticing. Im used to cut offs on a scirocco (around 6200 RPM), so I assumed this was the same story here, so it should cutoff at 7400 RPM if so thats great. Lots of guys with fast cars on the highway wanting to see whats what so I let the RPM rip knowing theres a cut off. But ill monitor it or video it.

Thanks.

It is plastic and yes they will paint over top of what is there for just a colour change. They will prep it though (or should) so the paint will stick.

Did your car not come with an owner's manual? If not you may want to get one. If so you need to give it a read. Soon!
Car manual yes, but I thought its a relatively easy thing, red light= cut off but im not sure, the cut off has gone off a couple of times when I wasnt paying attention because manual and watching the moron trying to race me. But there is one so that gives me peace of mind.

Pfff paint the spoilers. The need to scrape the old down to the bone and start all over prepping it two coats and paint two coats. Damn it. Im pissed off.

Most of my car has been repainted because of various minor scratches all over. Looks better than new. It had that orange peel bumpy look that is so common on Subaru's. Most of that is gone.
I know they lifted both doors, at least one fender and both front and back plastic bumpers off the car to spray separately.
Exactly how they do it, I don't know. I expected a professional job, and I got it.

- I would insist that the body kit is removed from the car before the parts are repainted.

- And I would go as far as demanding to return the car for a full refund if the dealer won't fix it for free. A bad color match on a body kit gives the impression of an amateur job. It's not a good look for a brand new GT86. IMHO.

Youre absolutely right, they need to remove the whole kit and re spray it again, theres no other way. Ill write them a long e mail. Ill keep you posted.

So the question now is, how did you observe the light cut out at 8,200 and 8,400? Did you downshift and get those revs?

Appears to be a common issue over there since this is the second (third if you believe that two of those were not the same guy) time we have heard this. They probably stocked up on prepainted body kits before the paint change and now just slap them on the cars.

Still a geniune TRD kit though, front, rear, side cost around 5000$ here.
