What always amazes me about this video is how quickly the car's safety system knew shit was going wrong and deployed the side-curtain airbag. Doesn't look like he had actually hit the rocks yet, and possibly saved the driver's life.

What's stupid about that driver is in the first 5 seconds of that video, he watches his buddy in front nearly understeer into a ditch. But neither of them even think to slow down. If he had just heeded that warning sign and backed off, he probably wouldn't have made the same mistake and understeered his own car off that cliff.

You can see where skid marks go all squirrelly.
There's a slight rise in the roadbed where they start going the other way.
I didn't try to drift it. I've seen too many of the videos beforehand.

Quote:
Back on 101 south, I turned off on Mulholland Hwy. It lives up to the hype. There's graval falling off the cuts into the road to look out for.
Saw some people shoveling coal into garbage cans from an open seam alongside the road. Black gold, Texas tea & etc.
Took a picture of "The" corner on Mulholland where everyone biffs it into the wall trying to show off.

Eh, I loved the look and performance of the E92 M3 and the V10 M5 and M6 of that generation as well. It was when BMW downsized their engines that I lost faith in them. I'm sure there were good reasons for it but I'm still not fond of the new M cars.

That being said, this video was hilarious, though it could have been worse.

These accidents would have been fatalities if the cars were 20 years older.

Save it for the track.

Absolutely. Agree 100%.

My buddies and I are into old Fiats. I couldn't even open the doors on my Fiat Spider when it was up on jack stands for wheel finishing. Safety has come so far in the last forty years. Up from zero basically. And as much as I enjoy the feel of my rear tires breaking loose in roundabouts-I'm under no illusions-I can't even drive a perfect Forza lap without hitting a wall.

I am absolutely in awe of both that driver and his car.
