yeah, there are certainly better parts out there. seems like it comes down to what it always does: brand preference and price. i've been extremely happy with the TRD parts available for my MR2 and my Tacoma. and i think it would definitely be interesting to see how often any of the aftermarket (factory aftermarket or third party) update their parts.

Honestly for the FT86 if I can buy it out of the factory with full TRD mods n stuff as such and it's not over hideous, or too much bad taste for me. For example I don't like the front facial of the G concept. Then I would buy it just like that.

Thought for a stock car I would probably just do the simple bolt on/ Exhausts and use part from top companies such as HKS and so fourth.
^^this. that's a BIG selling point for me on the TRD stuff. warranty. especially if i purchase a first model year. i can have the dealer install it before i take delivery, and it shouldn't affect my warranty at all. i just pick it up from the dealership and drive!

i have no problem whatsoever with aftermarket parts. my truck has an aftermarket suspension, my MR2 has more aftermarket than factory or TRD parts.

That's my guest, so can't say for sure... but yes, if TRD & STI did separate upgrade it'll be interesting to see each performance difference

Not a TRD fan. Then again, I was not a fan of Mazdaspeed or GMPP parts either. While better than stock, they aren't optimized to what I want from the car. More to a "warranty conservative" zone.

I'm looking forward to seeing the aftermarket take off with both cars. I've already told TWM Performance they are going to build a full replacement shifter for it. haha. I've bought their kit for every car I own and haven't been disappointed yet. Also looking forward to some good Datalogging abilities. The 6 doesn't have that capability unfortunately. Too many PCMs in too few years for any tuner to deal with it. I'm looking forward to a set of those sexy Boxer camshafts.

I agree to this. I also like TRD Japan when it comes to toyota oem parts maybe because they have better offer compare to TRD here in the US.

I also enjoy the wide range of other aftermarket companies. Here in the states it seems like we are getting more and more venders/registered sellers of companies like HKS, Greddy, APEXi...ect. And at least in the supra world some of our US stuff is even getting a lil better, like Titan, BoostLogic, SoundPerformance...ect. Examples, Sound performance QSV, BoostLogic compound turbo setup, Titan 3.4 block...

Tell me does anybody in japan ever overnight parts from the US?? Lol

PPE Engineering made some of the best headers for the last gen Celica. I'm interested in seeing if they'll tackle the FR-S

Greddy has gone bankrupt. HKS has pulled out of the American market. Others have also fallen lately, ARC ring a bell? The aftermarket segment has been changing greatly in recent times, there is no telling where it will go next.

^^^^ uncle Larry?!?!?

@chulooz I know this, but how do we still have a crazy amount of parts from them here and still continuing to receive? Is it because their warehouses were so overly stocked?

Greddy is fine, Trust had issues(but that's old news). HKS was here(at my company that I won't name) last week and still going to be good as far as making parts, it might just cost more to buy stuff due to importation BUT this is not a concrete plan to pull out of US market. Trust me when I say although this may be the case for these 2 they are not out of the market by any means. Your just gonna have to pay to play.:happy0180:

If what we keep hearing is true (snap oversteer prone - which is fine by me) then I'm buying big sticky rubber and an APR wing - bolted to a second trunk of course - it's what solves snap oversteer on an AP1 Following this, Cobalt brake pads, and some exhaust.

Too much pedal or twitching hands means snap oversteer. Especially if you don't know how to take a corner, gotta apex at the right moment, timing is and smoothness is key.
