TRD USA ain't what it used to be. My wheels are JDM TRD. They are forged monobloc by Rays Engineering/Volk. The US market TRD wheels are cast by Enkei I believe. Not that Enkei wheels are bad, but the difference between the cast and forged wheels is pretty significant. Almost all of their new stuff is just re-branded, over-priced components from existing aftermarket companies that is more street performance and appearance than the older stuff, which was actually intended to race. Hence the 'R' in the name.

Personally I will research what comes out before making any decisions, and will likely be making several of my own components for the car.

TRD USA SUCKS.

There are zillion aftermarket brands out there. I'm not going to get TRD accessory.

They should rename it to Scion Racing Development. Better fit.

Seeing that they actually do a lot of real racing I'd contend with that....

Nup, F*#k TRD.... HKS, ARC, etc will bring out far better products thAN TRD will however i guess some prefer the TRD option as it comes with warranty i presume....

If u want this FT-86 to be everything it can be even within a budget u would be far better getting quality performance parts through HKS, GREDDY, BLITZ etc.......
If TRD bring out any diffusers etc in carbon fibre ill be down with that...

TRD r just over priced... For people on a budget TEIN will out do TRD for any coilover upgrades, Project-Mu would be a far better option brakes wise blah blah blah...... (^.^)

Hey guys, I have a general question regarding modifications. What's the most modification you can do to a car but still keep it street legal?

I know that for exhausts, you can't change anything that has to do with emissions and it can't exceed a certain decibal range, so a catback system is the only option right? What about other components, such as intakes, manifolds, ECUs, etc?

Thanks in advance

Jet-fuel conversion, but then you have to have 5 Cats for it to be street legal, this will give most hp......

What are you trying to achieve, goals for the car?

Sorry, I don't think I was clear.. I think what I mean't was bolt-on modifications or "easy modifications"

I don't really have any goals (not planning to race/autocross/track/ or anything like that), but just simple upgrades I can do to a "daily driver sports car" to make it sound/perform better. I'm not looking for monster horsepower gains either, 5-15 hp gain would be good enough, lol

Yeah, I'm pretty new to car tuning, so if you have any suggestions on where I can learn more about it let me know!

at jetfuel. Technically you can do anything that still passes the emissions test, even convert to a different fuel. Although if you tamper with the ecu or emission systems you would fail the emissions test.

Since your in Cali you're going to need to consult with a lawyer . Actually you should look for a good tune shop and ask them. I'm sure some of them make a living getting modded cars to pass the emissions tests.

In Kentucky we don't have emission testing. So even though there is many federal laws that prohibit tampering there is none or almost zero enforcement. yay for the Commonwealth.

Well, I don't wanna be a ****, but 90% of the car forums you go to will tell you to "search" for obvious repeater questions(things that have been asked numerous times in Forums) but seeing how this is a slightly diff forum, basically if you looking for small performance upgrade like 5-15hp, then I don't think you really have to worry about effecting your street legal ability, unless you live in Cali, then I got no clue. For what your asking, full exhaust(header+midpipe/downpipe/cat+muffler), cold air intake, with a reflash would probably surpas your 5-15hp goal even if those are 5-15whp. Turbo vehicle's are even easier, bigger exhaust, Boost Controller, reflash, intake and depending on the engine/vehicle, you can see 25-100whp gain, but that all depends on the engine, hope that helped
